The Ticker: Garcia-Marquez, BuzzTimes, Bolton

    • Telemundo has tapped Mari Garcia-Marquez as EP of its morning news program “Levántate.” Garcia-Marquez joined the NBCU-owned network earlier this year to oversee the 10th anniversary of Telemundo’s primetime newsmagazine “Al Rojo Vivo.” Prior to joining Telemundo she worked for seven years at Univision, eventually becoming senior EP, and launching that network’s morning news program “Despierta America.”
    • BuzzTimes? BuzzFeed is partnering with the New York Times to produce online video reports live from the 2012 Republican and Democratic National Conventions. The videos will feature staffers from both the Times and BuzzFeed. “We think BuzzFeed’s energy and keen ear for how political stories play out in the social sphere will be a valuable and interesting contribution to The Times’s video presence,” said Jim Roberts, assistant managing editor of The New York Times.
    • Bloomberg TV’s Deirdre Bolton is interviewed by The Next Web. Bolton’s program is a show focused on tech and “alternative assets,” based in New York, why? “Everyone talks about New York as a hub for fashion, finance, media and advertising—and all of these businesses are ready for disruption.”

Kristol: Palin “Should Do ‘FOX News Sunday’ And Every Show”

kristol_10-26.jpgOn the heels of Ben Smith‘s report on Politico about rising tension in the McCain camp regarding the handling of Gov. Sarah Palin, one of the Veep nominee’s most vocal supporters, Bill Kristol, expressed hope she breaks free from the constraints put on her.

Politico’s Michael Calderone writes about an exchange on FOX News Sunday today, as host Chris Wallace brought up the fact that Palin will end the race without ever appearing on a single Sunday morning public affairs show.

“I’m told she would be happy to do a TV show, if she hasn’t gotten authorization,” said Kristol. “I hope she breaks free this week. She should do ‘Fox New Sunday’ and every show, as far as I’m concerned, next Sunday.”

Palin’s running mate, Sen. John McCain, appeared on NBC’s Meet the Press for the first time in almost nine months (although, as McCain noted, he’s one of the program’s most frequent guests). Tom Brokaw interviewed the GOP nominee on the campaign trail in Iowa.

“Seven Dirty Word” Drops on F&F

fandf_9-18.jpgPolitico’s Ben Smith catches an early morning, unbleeped word on Fox & Friends this morning, said by guest Caroline Baum, a Bloomberg columnist.

While discussing the Democrats attacks on Gov. Sarah Palin, she is asked by co-host Brian Kilmeade if some women voters who aren’t Republicans may drift to Palin.

Baum doesn’t think so — and expresses the sentiment while describing a part of the female anatomy. Her comment causes a classic Kilmeade-walk-off and laughter on and off camera.
