Mike Huckabee Talks Syndicated Show as Bob Barker ‘Comes On Down’

Huckabee072610.jpg Former Arkansas Governor and current Fox News Channel host Mike Huckabee previews his new eponymous syndicated television show to Richard Huff at the New York Daily News.

Huckabee says his show will be slightly less political than his FNC program, though he won’t shy away from tackling the issues of the day. His show will also be markedly different than most of thr other daytime programming out there:

“I probably won’t hit anyone,” Huckabee says. “I’m pretty sure of that. I have to be who I am. I can’t throw chairs. I’m not going to do a show on my mother slept with my stepson. That’s just not who I am. If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. I’m just willing to bet there are a whole lot of people across the country who will find themselves comfortable with this show.”

One thing not mentioned in the Daily News: TVNewser hears that former “Price is Right” host Bob Barker has signed on to serve as a guest co-host for some of Huckabee’s syndicated shows. They will mark the first time that Barker has hosted a television program since leaving the classic CBS game show.

“The Huckabee Show” is being tested out on a handful of Fox owned and operated stations this Summer. If it does well enough in the ratings, the company may expand its distribution.

On “Good Morning America,” Bill Weir did his best Rod Roddy introducing Bob Barker to the show. Barker was on to talk about his $3 million dollar donation to the Intrepid Foundation which capped off a $60 million drive to raise money to build a traumatic brain injury center for wounded veterans. “I have always had great respect for our members of the armed forces,” Barker told Weir. “They go into the service 18 years old, 19 years old. And unfortunately, some of them are coming home crippled and maimed. My sympathy goes out to them because life is tough enough without having a handicap like that.”

Meanwhile, WebNewser reports the current host of “The Price is Right” went on saying he’ll donate $1 million to Lance Armstrong’s LiveStrong Foundation, on one condition
