Cristina Alesci Jumps From Bloomberg to CNN

cristina alesciAfter five years at Bloomberg TV, Cristina Alesci is joining CNN and CNNMoney as a correspondent. She begins in her new role next month.

“At CNN she’ll join our talented roster of business news reporters and anchors as we reshape and relaunch CNNMoney across all platforms to deliver the money news that matters most to you,” CNN director of U.S. business news Caleb Silver wrote in a note to staff this morning. “Cristina was responsible for breaking news on some of the biggest and most competitive takeover battles, private equity deals and bankruptcies of the last five years, including the struggle for Dell, the buyout of Neiman Marcus and the collapse of MF Global.”

Before joining Bloomberg in 2009,  Alesci worked at Pfizer and law firm Sidley Austin LLP.

Romans Upped to CNN Chief Business Correspondent

Romans304CNN’s Christine Romans has been promoted to Chief Business Correspondent while continuing to host “Your Money.” In a note to staff obtained by TVNewser, CNN’s director of business news Caleb Silver writes,”Christine has made a terrific career out of demystifying complicated economic issues like the ones we face today, and explaining why they matter to everyone.”

Caleb Silver Named CNN’s Director of U.S. Business News

After three years as executive producer for, Caleb Silver is joining CNN’s New York bureau as the director of U.S. business news.

In his new role, Silver will oversee the network’s business newsgathering and production, which will include the weekend business shows on CNN as well as business segments across all the network’s platforms.

The move is a return to the New York bureau for Silver, who came to CNN in 2004 as an assignment manager for business news and later became senior producer for “The Situation Room.”
