CBS News Relaunches CBSNews.com

CBS News has quietly relaunched CBSNews.com.

The new look for the site features a lighter background, larger text and bigger photos, making it less cluttered and easier to read. There are fewer stories featured at the top, but readers get more information from them.

The links to the CBS News program sub-sites are a little harder to find, but still at the top of the page. There also appears to be a new ad unit at the top of the page.

Take a look at the old layout to the left, and the new design to the right, below.

More changes at CBSNews.com

Eric Schurenberg has left BNET, the CBS Interactive site geared toward business professionals. Schurenberg had been BNET’s editor-in-chief and editorial director of CBSMoneyWatch.com. Content from CBSMoneyWatch.com and BNET will now be incorporated into CBSNews.com and those staffers will now report to Dan Farber who, on Friday, added CNET News to his editorial duties in addition to overseeing CBSNews.com.

Personnel Shuffle at CBS Interactive

CBS Interactive general manager Mark Larkin announced several personnel changes in an email to staff obtained by TVNewser, highlighted by the departures of his boss, senior vice president and GM Greg Mason, and of CBSNews.com executive editor Neil Katz.

Larkin will assume some of his former boss’ duties, taking over co-management of the business unit, which includes CNET, CBS MoneyWatch.com, BNET, ZDNet, and TechRepublic, as well as continuing to oversee CBSNews.com.

Katz left to become executive news editor at AOL Huffington Post Media Group, and Kevin Hayes will pick up some of his duties.

More on the personnel shifts from Larkin’s email, after the jump…
