Charlie Rose To Interview President Obama, Michelle Obama For CBS

“CBS This Morning” co-anchor Charlie Rose will interview President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama today. Highlights of the interview will air tomorrow across all CBS News programming, with the full interview airing Sunday on “CBS Sunday Morning” and Monday on “CBS This Morning.”

It will be Rose’s first interview with the President since he took office. He had interviewed him for his eponymous PBS program when he was a sitting Senator from Illinois. Obama was last interviewed by CBS back in March, when CBS Sports’ Clark Kellogg spoke to him during the NCAA playoffs.

“CBS Evening News” anchor Scott Pelley last interviewed him in July, 2011.

President Obama and PM Cameron Give Only Joint Interview To…

President Obama is hosting U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron this week, and it has been announced that the pair will be giving only one joint interview. It won’t be NBC, ABC or CBS, nor will it be Fox News or CNN.

Rather, the pair will be speaking to CBS Sports and Turner Sports during halftime of the first game of the NCAA playoffs Tuesday evening. CBS Sports’ Clark Kellogg will interview the pair, with the game set to air on TruTV. It will be Kellogg’s third time interviewing the President.

For Obama and Cameron, doing the interview during halftime ensures a much larger and more diverse audience than if it were standing by itself. From an audience perspective, one would prefer to be on a larger platform like CBS, but TruTV could see record ratings from this year’s March Madness tourney. Look for CBS News and CNN to take advantage of their sister divisions, and feature clips on their newscasts.

On a related note, CBS News has the only interview with Prince Harry as he travels in Brazil for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The interview will air on “CBS This Morning” Tuesday and Wednesday.

The full announcement of the Obama/Cameron interview, which includes a somewhat glaring error, is below. See if you can spot it.

The Chargers Attempt To Address The Blackout Issue

In what could be a sign of things to come, the San Diego Chargers will drop ticket prices on 6,500 seats in 2011.

The Chargers had three blackouts during the 2010 season including their home opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Dropping in price are the View Level endzone tickets, which cost $63 last season. Starting in 2011, they will be $54 and make up nearly 10 percent of Qualcomm Stadium’s seating. Read more

CBS’ Harry Smith to Shoot Interview, Hoops with Pres. Obama

BObama_3.28.jpgThis Thursday, CBS “Early Show” co-anchor Harry Smith will go one-on-one with Pres. Barack Obama in a court-side interview. Then, Smith and his CBS Sports colleague NCAA basketball analyst Clark Kellogg will shoot hoops with Obama on the White House basketball court.

Smith’s interview and clips from the game will air on The Early Show Friday. Kellogg’s interview with the President, and the game, will air Saturday afternoon and evening during CBS’s coverage of the Final Four.

CBS’ is the second network news interview Pres. Obama will do this week. He’s talking to NBC’s Matt Lauer for an interview that will air Tuesday morning on “Today.”
