Bradley called out ESPN analyst Jay Bilas following his comments on Selection Sunday that VCU wasn’t worthy of making the NCAA Tournament.

“What Bilas and his kind don’t understand – - or don’t want to admit – - is that college basketball is no longer the top-flight sport it was even 10 years ago. It may still provide some thrilling moments in March, but the overall quality of play has dropped considerably. A variety of reasons can be cited, including the yearly exodus of top underclassmen to the NBA, a continued decaying of fundamentals at the high school level (thanks, AAU ball!) that forces coaches to use strategies that feature athleticism, rather than skill, and a moving away from team-first attitudes among better players aching to be playing professionally. continued…

Cam Newton‘s Heisman media tour included a stop on the Late Show with David Letterman where the Auburn quarterback read the “Top Ten Things Cam Newton Can Say Now That He Won the Heisman Trophy.”

It’s not Newton’s fault because he didn’t write the jokes, but when did David Letterman‘s “Top Ten” list stop being funny?

The only one remotely funny was number eight and that’s only because of the visual stuck in my head now.

The performance by CBS even out-rated NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” which aired in primetime and tied a ratings record of its own.

CBS aired a number of games during the doubleheader, depending on the market. Among them: the New England Patriots-Chicago Bears, the New York Jets-Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs-San Diego Chargers and Arizona Cardinals-Denver Broncos.

ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will be available through a new authenticated service that verifies the viewer is a Time Warner Cable customer.

As part of ESPN’s plan to shift to “TV Everywhere,” there will be fewer videos available on ESPN.com for non-Time Warner customers.

“We believe this ‘TV Everywhere’ model is going to be what the industry at large is going to pursue,” said John Kosner, general manager of digital media at ESPN. “We’re going to make similar deals with lots of distributors.”

Last month, Walt Disney Co. and Time Warner reached a new deal to keep their channels on the cable giant. As part of the deal, ESPN3.com would also be made available to Time Warner Cable customers.

Verizon’s FiOS customers will also gain online access to the ESPN Networks in the upcoming months.

If you’re a DirecTV customer like me, this has to sting a little bit, but not enough to consider switching back to cable.

But the FoxSports.com columnist was featured in the paper on Sunday, which has to be a sign of the apocalypse.

For sports media junkies, the profile touches on all the things you have come to known over the years about Whitlock – - from his days playing football at Ball State University to his short lived stops at ESPN and AOL.

The highlight of the profile though was this gem of a line from columnist Dan LeBatard of The Miami Herald:

“I try not to burn bridges, but he napalms them. He’s fundamentally unafraid.”

If that doesn’t sum up Whitlock, I don’t know what does.
