That’s about $600,000 less than the asking price.

The three-bedroom, three-bath, full-floor condo at 71 Murray St. has 4,000 square feet of space and includes a state-of-the-art kitchen, a fireplace, private outdoor space and water views.

Brown and her husband, former Bush administration official Dan Senor, have two young sons.
Brit Hume on the Fox Fight: ‘Hoist a Jolly Roger, Pull out our Daggers and Look for More Throats to Slit’

In your Monday morning Fox News vs. White House update, we have this from Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume, who tells the LATimes‘ Matea Gold: “We may be No. 1, but there is sort of an insurgent quality to Fox News. And that’s kind of our attitude: ‘Hoist a Jolly Roger, pull out our daggers and look for more throats to slit.’ This is tremendous fodder for us. My lord, we’ve been living on it.”

And from the New Yorker‘s Louis Menand:

It’s hard to kill the press, but it is not hard to chill it, and this appears to be the White House’s goal in the case of Fox. “The best analogy is probably baseball,” Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary, said-meaning that throwing a few inside fastballs, a little chin music, gets hitters to back off the plate. Maybe, but he should also remember that deliberately throwing at a batter is grounds for ejection. The state may, and should, rebut opinions that it finds obnoxious, but it should not single out speakers for the purpose of intimidating them. At the end of the day, you do not want your opponents to be able to say that they could not be heard. It may be exasperating, but that is what the First Amendment is all about.

And Politico’s Mike Allen writes, Fox News isn’t the only target on the White House’s dartboard. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the focus of “a campaign by the White House and its allies to undermine [the] $200-million-a-year association.”

The fight with Fox News has been more pointed and sustained – and is much less likely to abate anytime soon, while the spat with the Chamber is more delicate for the White House.

And, one more clip from the Sunday shows. On “Meet the Press,” Jane Mayer, Joe Scarborough, Dan Senor and Tavis Smiley discussed the Obama administration’s approach to the news network:

No Bull: Campbell Brown Moves From “Mold-Ridden” Apartment

The New York Daily News’ Richard Huff writes about Campbell Brown‘s mold problem. “Just before the inauguration, and after months of struggling with her baby’s unexplained illness, Campbell, her child and her husband, Dan Senor, were forced to flee their mold-ridden apartment without their belongings,” he writes.

“When they said, ‘You need to get your baby and get out now,’ we were able to get out,” said Brown.

The CNN anchor, who takes maternity leave for baby #2 in April, says work “was a diversion” during the ordeal. “That’s the beauty of our jobs…you have a deadline every day,” she said. “Was it a challenge? On certain days, certainly. But we have a great team of people and they’ve been really supportive.”

After living in a hotel since January, the couple plan to a new, mold-free apartment as soon as this weekend.

CNN/Time Politics ’08: Who’s the “Notorious Offender?”

Howard Kurtz moderates a media bias/elitist panel with Bill Adair of the St. Pete Times, Dan Rather, author/journalist David Sirota, Free Press executive director Josh Silver and and WSJ columnist Dorothy Rabinowitz (not pictured).

Dan Rather implored journalists to “not back down” when it comes campaigns and candidates who shut them out. The former CBS Newsman was on a panel at the Time Warner Politics summit this morning discussing media bias and elitism during this year’s campaign. Rather says the “press gets defensive” when a campaign goes after a particular reporter or, as we’ve seen this election cycle, an entire network. GOP VP nominee Sarah Palin has yet to agree to an interview with CNN or NBC/MSNBC.

Panelist Dorothy Rabinowitz, a columnist at the Wall Street Journal, said CNN’s Campbell Brown has been a “notorious offender” when it comes to the coverage of Palin. Before she made the comment, Rabinowitz looked around the room hoping Brown’s husband, Dan Senor, wasn’t around. Senor had been on a panel discussing foreign policy (below) just prior to the bias/elitism discussion.

> Update: Campbell Brown responds to the criticism from Rabinowitz: “My comments about Governor Sarah Palin have been in the context of journalists having access to the most basic information about a Vice Presidential candidate. My job as a journalist is to ask tough and fair questions. It has never been more essential for reporters to keep asking these questions.”

Campbell Brown on Sexism and Sarah Palin

As the mother of an 8-month-old, CNN anchor Campbell Brown can relate to Gov. Sarah Palin. “I love the idea of a mother in the campaign and bringing some of those issues to the forefront,” Brown told TVNewser this morning at the CNN Grill.

But those issues, faced by millions of working mothers across the nation, have special significance for Palin and for Brown. As Palin campaigns, Brown reports, trying to find out more about the GOP VP nominee.

Critics went after Brown Monday night after she pressed McCain spokesperson Tucker Bounds about Palin’s qualifications for the VP slot. “Despite what some people have said, there was a recognition from most people that I was doing my job,” Brown says. “She’s new to the political scene. There are a million questions to ask about her. It’s our job.”

Then last night, Brown found herself, in a way, standing up for Palin after Senate majority leader Harry Reid described Palin’s speech as ‘shrill.’ “Several of the women on the panel had a very strong reaction to it,” Brown says. “There are words that set off alarm bells for women.”

Brown’s point? Attacks from democrats could backfire if perceived as sexist. “Just in the same way that many of Clinton’s people charged sexism,” Brown predicts, “I think you’re going to see Republicans in certain cases when she’s attacked, charging sexism.”

For Brown, it’s all just another day at the office. The former NBC News anchor knows it comes with the territory. Motherhood just puts it all in perspective.
