Univision Launches Redesigned Website

univision logoUnivision News launched a redesigned website this week. Univision called the site “fresh, dynamic and more user friendly than ever, as it adapts to any device screen — computer, tablet or mobile phone.”

The site features more advanced video and photo displays, as well as faster publishing time and new social features. Users are able to comment next to each paragraph they read and then share those comments on social media.

“This redesign is one more example of our commitment to constantly innovate to better serve our community by providing the best multi-platform news products and the most enjoyable digital experience,” Daniel Coronell and Scott Levine wrote in a memo to Univision staffers.

Univision Names Patsy Loris VP of News

Patsy Loris has been promoted to vice president of news at Univision. In addition to overseeing the network’s news division, Loris will be responsible for hiring personnel and developing show concepts for Fusion, Univision and ABC News’ joint cable channel scheduled for launch later this year.

Loris joined Univision News in 1989 and has most recently worked as the network’s senior news director. She is credited with creating and producing “Al Punto,” Univision’s Sunday public affairs show.

“For the last 24 years, Patsy has helped shape the editorial content of the most trusted and influential news programs on Spanish-language television in the U.S.,” Univision SVP and executive director of news Daniel Coronell said in a statement. “She is a distinguished professional and a consummate leader who has played an instrumental role in the growth and success of Univision News, and we are confident that she will continue to make invaluable contributions to Univision in her new role.”

Univision Ups Three Newsroom Execs

Univision has promoted three newsroom executives, giving them expanded roles in the organization. Lourdes Torres has been named director of special projects for Univision News, Jairo Marin has been promoted to executive producer of Univision’s newsmagazine program “Aquí y Ahora” (Here and Now), and Maria Martinez-Henao has been promoted to managing editor of Network News.

“Lourdes, Jairo and Maria play an integral role in Univision’s expanding news coverage and we are pleased to recognize their many contributions with these promotions,” said Daniel Coronell, VP of Univision News in a statement. “We have a long-standing commitment to provide first-rate news coverage which includes breaking news as well as coverage of the issues that are important to the everyday lives of our loyal community. With journalists of this caliber on our team, we are consistently able to achieve this goal.”

Pamela Silva Conde Named Co-Anchor of Univision’s ‘Primer Impacto’

Univision has named Pamela Silva Conde co-anchor of its daily newsmagazine Primer Impacto. Silva Conde was most recently a correspondent on another Univision newsmagazine, ‘Aquí y Ahora.’

“As part of Univision’s continued commitment to deliver the best news and most innovative programming, we are honored to welcome Pamela into her new role,” said Daniel Coronell, vice president of Univision News in a statement. “Pamela’s extensive experience, tremendous passion and exemplary reporting make her an incredible asset to the ‘Primer Impacto’ team.”
