Last week we noted that former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld praised Al Jazeera for its coverage in the Middle East during an interview with Sir David Frost. Today, Al Jazeera aired another interview with Rumsfeld, taped the same day but with a markedly different tone.

Abderrahim Foukara was quite confrontational with Rumsfeld, who evaded the interviewer’s line of questioning:

Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, who once called Al Jazeera’s reporting “vicious, inaccurate and inexcusable” has apparently made amends with the broadcaster. The Huffington Post’s Michael Calderone reports that in an interview to air tonight, Rumsfeld praised the channel for its recent reportage:

“Its audience has grown and it can be an important means of communication in the world,” he said of the channel.

“I am delighted you are doing what you are doing.”

Tomorrow, Worldfocus anchor Martin Savidge is scheduled to interview Sir David Frost, to air as part of a forthcoming special presentation of “Frost/Nixon: The Original Watergate Interviews.”

The program will run on public television stations across the country this August, to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the resignation of President Nixon on August 9, 1974.

The original Frost/Nixon interviews were broadcast in four installments in 1977, with the premiere program on May 4, 1977 drawing some 45 million viewers.

TVNewser is hearing an Inside Edition 20th anniversary celebration is taking place on Friday in New York City. The show premiered January 9, 1989.

Expected guests include the program’s current host, Deborah Norville, the show’s 2nd host, Bill O’Reilly (seen in his former role quite often this year), former correspondents Rolanda Watts and Nancy Glass and creator, John Tomlin.
