Hollywood Reportedly Interested in Making Feature Film of ESPN Oral History

Deadspin is reporting that filmmakers are interested in turning the ESPN oral history Those Guys Have All the Fun by James Andrew Miller and Tom Shales into a feature-length film.

It’s in the very early stages but, according to our source, one lucky studio will make a major financial investment to create a Social Network-type film version of ESPN’s ascent from Bristol-based cable upstart to Worldwide Leader.

Chris Berman in the Jesse Eisenberg/Mark Zuckerburg role? Maybe. Who stars in the film of course depends on people’s interpretation of who are the stars of the book and, in turn, the major contributors to World Wide Leader’s three-decade ascent to the top of sports media. The book clocks in at 784 pages, and features interviews with hundreds of people, so picking which people and tales to focus on would be a delicate balance between the behind-the-scenes operators who made the smart business decisions and the well-known names and faces who give the company its public personality.

Hell in a Cell: WWE Launches Mobile Magazine

World Wrestling Entertainment has an Official Mobile Magazine. For $2.99 a month, the weekly publication promises to be “stuffed with as much content as your phone can handle,” like interviews with wrestling stars, blog posts and breaking news. Let’s hope your phone can fight back.

The application is the latest in a series of Mozines from startup company ThumbMedia Group in Burbank, CA, which designs and distributes mobile magazines for publishers across multiple platforms. Mozine also created the ad for the application, which ran in the October issue of the print edition. Said ThumbMedia CEO Mike Cartabiano:

We’ve just launched on the iPhone and we’re already #85 on the top 200 paid entertainment applications, which is pretty spectacular. We have – last time I looked – a 5-star rating. We’re happy, they’re happy, it’s been a very seamless process for the WWE team in working with us.

Android and Blackberry editions are coming soon.

Robin Meade Teams up with Charles Barkley for Year-in-Review Special

Meade_12.3.jpgHLN anchor Robin Meade and TNT basketball analyst, and former pro, Charles Barkley will co-host “With All Due Respect — A Roundtable Discussion on the Biggest Stories of 2009.”

The show, which also features Dennis Eckersley and Kyle Petty, will include interaction and questions from a live studio audience, along with questions from fans submitted through CNN iReport.

“Let’s just say nobody in this group is shy with the opinions,” Meade tells TVNewser. “You couple that with input from our viewers – who also aren’t afraid to tell it like it is – and you’ve got a pretty spirited hour of TV.” Meade’s “Morning Express” just finished a strong November with its best Total Viewer average ever (326K). In the A25-54 demo “Morning Express” was the number two cable news morning show behind “Fox & Friends.”

“With All Due Respect” premieres on HLN Sunday, Dec. 20. More details in the press release after the jump.
