  • Matt Lauer sits down with entertainment legend Sir Elton John tomorrow on “Today.” John discusses the 40th anniversary of the release of his album, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.”

  •  Chuck Todd is featuring his own March Madness bracket: “Presidential Near Misses: 64 Who Almost Made It to 1600.” The competition gives viewers the chance to pick history’s top White House contender who never made it to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Round two starts tomorrow.

The Weekend Ticker: Candle In The Wind Singer, Couric, Cooper

  • Singer Sir Elton John will give an exclusive interview to NBC “Today” anchor Matt Lauer next week outside his home in London. John will be talking about his new memoir Love is the Cure: On Life, Loss and the End of AIDS. The interview will air on “Today” next Tuesday, July 17 and Wednesday, July 18.
  • Soon-to-be ABC talk show host Katie Couric is now also a columnist for Woman’s Day. Her columns will appear on both Womansday.com and KatieCouric.com, which serves as the hub of her talk show. Topics will vary, but will include health, parenting and family transitions. “I meet people with amazing stories every day – interesting, amusing and life-changing stories with universal lessons that I am so excited to share with Woman’s Day’s readers,” said Couric in a statement.
  • CNN anchor Anderson Cooper has finally sold his midtown Manhattan pad. Cooper even pulled off the impossible in this market, getting more than the asking price, according to the New York Observer. “Mr. Anderson gave the loft an extensive make-over before he moved in, adding a custom Lutron lighting system, multi-room surround sound ‘to set the mood,’ radiant-heat smoked Chambord oak floors to ‘warm the body’ and stain glass to ‘cool the senses.’”
