The wreath-laying ceremony at the tomb of the Unknowns on this Veterans Day, falling this year on a Sunday, got the traditional coverage on the cable news networks this morning. Jamie Colby and Eric Shawn anchored on Fox News, Melissa Harris-Perry anchored during her show on MSNBC and Candy Crowley anchored coverage on CNN before “Reliable Sources” began at 11:11am.

Martha MacCallum Leads Fox News Coverage of Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

Fox News has slated special coverage of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, which takes place tomorrow in London. “America’s Newsroom” anchor Martha MacCallum, who will be in London for the event, will kick off her live reports in the 9amET hour tomorrow. MacCallum will also co-anchor “America’s News Headquarters” alongside Eric Shawn and Jamie Colby from 10am-1pmET.

Additionally, Fox News correspondents Amy Kellogg and Greg Palkot will continue to report on the Jubilee events throughout the day. Fox will also stream the processional and pageant online.

As we told you earlier this week, Brooke Baldwin and Piers Morgan will anchor CNN’s coverage of tomorrow’s pageant. HLN and MSNBC have not slated extended coverage of the event, but both networks will air highlights during news updates throughout the day.

More Political Coverage for Cable Networks as Week-Long Maine Caucus Concludes

Another weekend of political coverage is underway as Maine’s week-long GOP caucus concludes this evening. Although Maine’s caucus is non-binding, the cable networks will devote special coverage to the results in prime time tonight.

Chris Hayes will anchor two hours of coverage on MSNBC beginning at 6pmET. He will be joined by Melissa Harris-Perry.

CNN’s caucus special will be anchored by Wolf Blitzer, John King and Candy Crowley from Washington, DC. Coverage will begin at 7pmET after a special 6pmET edition of “The Situation Room.”

Fox News will feature regularly-scheduled Saturday night programming — “America’s News Headquarters” with Eric Shawn and Arthel Neville at 6pmET and “Fox Report” with Harris Faulkner at 7pmET.

So, How’s Your UN Week Going?

It’s UN week here in New York, where diplomats tie up traffic and ring up tabs.

Eric Shawn has been covering the goings-on at the UN for Fox News. CNN’s man at the UN is Richard Roth, and NBC’s chief foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell is reporting for “Nightly News” as well as anchoring her MSNBC show from New York.

While Pres. Obama had his say earlier this morning at the UN, there was one notable absence this year: the world leader who gave this 90-minute speech in 2009, is nowhere near New York this week … at least we don’t think so.

And this got us thinking about UN week 2008, when CBS’s Katie Couric caught up with GOP VP nominee Sarah Palin. Palin was in New York for meetings with several world leaders. Couric’s interviews with Gov. Palin two years ago this week were both harshly criticized and award-winning.

President Obama’s New York Visit

The cable news channels are covering Barack Obama‘s first visit to Ground Zero as president, four days after the operation that killed Osama Bin Laden. After a lunch with with members of FDNY Engine 54, Ladder 4, Battalion 9, in midtown Manhattan along with former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Obama headed to NYPD precinct one. Later he’ll lay a wreath at Ground Zero.

Following the president’s remarks at the firehouse, a few of the firefighters talked about their lunch with the president which was carried live on the cable networks. Fox News correspondent Eric Shawn asked a firefighter what it was like to have the President of the United States eat the Eggplant Parmesan he’d cooked up. “It was a once in a lifetime thing.”

As many of the newsers attending this year’s White House correspondents dinner — and after parties — were calling it a night, in Rome, the cable news networks were just getting going, covering the Mass for the beatification of Pope John Paul II. Chris Jansing (left, with analysts George Weigel and Fr. Robert Barron), who’d anchored coverage of the Royal Wedding Friday and flew to Rome yesterday, began MSNBC’s coverage just before 4amET. On Fox News, Jamie Colby and Eric Shawn anchored from New York beginning at 4am, with religion correspondent Lauren Green and Fr. Jonathan Morris in Rome. CNN/U.S. and CNNI simulcast the Mass with Jon Mann anchoring in Atlanta and correspondent Jim Bitterman and Vatican analyst and author John Allen in Rome.

Network Plans for Pope John Paul II Beatification

While the U.S. networks have big plans for next Friday’s royal wedding (or hadn’t you heard), a mere 48 hours and 1,100 miles away in Vatican City another big event will unfold: the beatification of Pope John Paul II. Beatification is the first step to Sainthood.

FNC will carry the Beatification Mass beginning at 4amET Sunday, May 1. Jamie Colby and Eric Shawn will anchor the Mass from New York while religion correspondent Lauren Green will report from Vatican City. Rome-based correspondent Greg Burke will report and FNC analyst Father Jonathan Morris makes a return to Rome to contribute.

MSNBC’s Chris Jansing who will be covering the royal wedding, travels from London to Rome Saturday morning and will begin appearing on MSNBC Saturday. Jansing will anchor live coverage of the Beatification Mass beginning at 4amET. She’ll be joined NBC’s Vatican analyst and author George Weigel and Vatican Art Historian Liz Lev. Jansing covered the death of Pope John Paul II and the election of Benedict XVI in 2005.

CNN/U.S. and CNNI will broadcast the Mass Sunday with Jon Mann anchoring. Jim Bitterman will be the correspondent at the Vatican and author John Allen will provide analysis. CNN en Espanol will cover with Jose Levy.

ABC’s David Wright is the correspondent for TV and other platforms. ABCNews.com will live stream the Mass with ABC News San Francisco-based producer Ariane Nalty reporting. (Interesting note: Nalty’s brother is Monsignor Christopher Nalty who worked at the Vatican Congregation for the Clergy. Ariane’s father-in-law is Charles Zewe a former correspondent for CNN).

NBC’s Anne Thompson and CBS’s Allen Pizzey will report for their networks.

November ’09 Elections: Cable Plans

Tomorrow, polls will open following an off-year election season that’s included closely followed races in Virginia, New Jersey, and New York. Here is a rundown of special coverage on the cable networks:

	Wolf Blitzer will be in D.C. anchoring coverage of the returns for CNN’s “Election Night in America.” Campbell Brown, Anderson Cooper, and Larry King will have an election focus for their programs and there will be a special “Larry King Live” at 12amET. Gloria Borger, Candy Crowley, John King, and Jessica Yellin, along with other correspondents, will appear during primetime programming.
	FNC will have live reporting throughout the day from Major Garrett and Jim Angle in D.C., Carl Cameron in Virginia, Shannon Bream in New Jersey, and Eric Shawn and Molly Line in New York. Martha MacCallum will anchor exit poll results. Bret Baier will anchor live from New York at 6pmET. Shepard Smith will anchor the 7pmET hour when Virginia poll results are expected. Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity will host their regular programs with updates from Smith and Baier. Smith and Baier will also be on with Greta Van Susteren at 10pmET.
	Chuck Todd will anchor live from D.C. at 11am and 2pmET and Ed Schultz will be live from New York at 4pmET. Special live editions of “Countdown, “The Rachel Maddow Show,” and “Hardball” will be presented at 10pm, 11pm, and 12amET.
	FBN’s election night coverage starts at 8pmET and will be anchored by Neil Cavuto in New York. Guests include former NJ governors Christie Whitman and Jim Florio, Rep. Scott Garrett (R-NJ), former VA governor George Allen, and PA governor Ed Rendell.
	At 7amET, PA Governor Ed Rendell will be a guest host on “Squawk Box.” From 7-9pmET, Larry Kudlow will anchor “A Special Edition of The Kudlow Report: Your Money, Your Vote” live from D.C. with guests including: Dick Armey, Lanny Davis, Ed Gillespie and MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough. CNBC’s John Harwood and Hampton Pearson will also report.

How Do You Spell that Libyan Leader’s Name?

The speech from the leader of Libya at the U.N., now in its 63rd minute, is being carried on the cable news networks this morning, with each network spelling his name differently. Some have his first name as Moammar; others as Muammar. His last name is showing up differently on the three U.S. cable networks.

• Fox News spells it Qaddafi

• CNN spells it Gadhafi

• And MSNBC spells it Khaddafy

By the way, the AP has been spelling it Moammar Gadhafi.

> Update: After about 90 minutes, the cable news networks moved on from Qaddafi/Gadhafi/Khaddafy. FNC was first to cut away around 12:29 with correspondent Eric Shawn at the U.N. CNN was next at 12:36 and MSNBC dumped out about a minute later with NBC DC bureau chief Mark Whittaker discussing the morning’s U.N. events. Qaddafi/Gadhafi/Khaddafy finally wrapped up at 12:44pmET.

> Update 2: Dr. Ahmed Ferhadi, Director of the Arabic Program at NYU tells TVNewser: “Based on the structure and pronunciation of this Arabic name, its English transliteration should be Qaddafi. The variation Qadhafi is fine, too.”

CNN Gets Into Election Fraud Watch With Hotline

With their competition in the voter fraud-catching game at Fox News off to a five-month head start, CNN has taken it to the next level — a Hotline (FNC has an email address).

Voters can call the Election Day Hotline toll-free at (877) GOCNN08. The number is active now, and a special investigation unit, led by Ali Velshi, will report on voting irregularities across the country leading up to the election.

Also, American Morning begins airing a five-part series next week called “Count the Vote,” looking at voting problems in battleground states.

FOX Sends Cease & Desist to McCain Web Operator

TVNewser has obtained a cease & desist letter sent by lawyers from Fox News Channel to AirNet Group Corporation, the company that hosts John McCain‘s campaign Website.

The copyright infringement notification stems from this ad currently playing on the McCain-Palin site. It includes grainy images and audio of reporting from Fox News correspondent Eric Shawn. The notification states, “Fox News requests that you immediately cease and desist from any further use of the copyrighted material and that access through the Website to the Material, and any other Fox News materials, be immediately disabled.”

Two weeks ago, NBC sent a cease & desist to the Obama campaign after it used images of Tom Brokaw and Keith Olbermann in a campaign ad.

FNC’s Shawn “Focusing on Individuals” and Exposing Voter Fraud

Fox News Channel correspondent Eric Shawn is on the hunt. Since April, he’s been on a cross-country mission to uncover issues related to voter fraud.

“Everyone else is focusing on the candidates and politics, I’m focusing on individuals and the individual’s right to vote,” Shawn told TVNewser today, as he was in the field following another lead.

As the election draws near, tips to a special email inbox [voterfraud@foxnews.com] have been pouring in. “In the last week, we’ve received 1,500 emails,” said Shawn, which represents about half of all the emails received by FNC since the inbox was set up a couple months ago. “I’m trying to read each and every one of them.” Much of the focus for the past few weeks has been on the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), a group that helps register low-income Americans.

Shawn and FNC producer Becky Diamond have “traveled around the country,” looking for fraud; in Alabama, where there are allegations of absentee ballots being sold for 20 bucks or crack cocaine; or in Florida, where optical scan machines being tested in preparation for the 2008 election are already revealing thousands of lost ballots; or the hundreds of thousands of military votes not being counted from Arizona because they didn’t reach the States in time.

But what is Shawn’s forecast for Election Night ’08? Here’s a hint — not good.

Fox News Gives Up Two Days of The Factor For The Candidates

Fox News Channel will preempt their most popular show two days next week to present two new documentaries on the presidential candidates. “2008 Presidential Character and Conduct” airs Monday and Tuesday at 8pmET. Bill Hemmer hosts Monday’s Obama documentary. Eric Shawn hosts Tuesday’s McCain hour.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Paul J. Gough spoke with Hemmer and Shawn about the programs. “This is an in-depth, detailed examination that’s beyond what has been broadcast in terms of these typical type of biographies,” said Shawn. Added Hemmer, “The voters are evaluating these men, Obama and McCain, and I believe these documentaries are terrific learning tools by which people can watch and learn, discuss and decide.”
