Manchester United’s Ryan Giggs was named by the Spanish press and other outlets as the married soccer player who had a longstanding affair with model Imogen Thomas, a revelation that a judge in the United Kingdom had barred from publication.

Unfortunately for Giggs, that provision doesn’t extend to publications in other countries.

As Deadspin reported yesterday, “The (British) tabloids who’ve had this for weeks and months are royally pissed that they don’t get the scoop, but then this is the same industry that’s in trouble for hacking the voicemails of celebrities, including Wayne Rooney. So, pick your sides.”

In case you wondered why Chris Webber didn’t think twice before mocking the Miami Heat last night, it’s because Dwyane Wade and others have turned off their televisions.

When Wade was asked by the Sun Sentinel if he knew who Marquette was playing in the first round of the Big East Tournament, the guard had no idea.

“I don’t even know who they open up with in the Big East Tournament,” Wade said. “That’s not good. I’ve totally shut it down. I don’t want to hear anything. I want to focus on what it takes for us to get this ship right again.” Read more

Sad news as blogger/podcaster Dan Levy announced on Monday that his On The DL podcast is coming to an end next month.

“I’ve decided to stop doing the show, and stop posting regularly on this site and on the podcast site. Before we started doing daily shows, I talked with both Jamie Mottram and JE Skeets and they both told me it would make me go insane.

It has.

I feel like my brain is segmented in a way that’s unfamiliar. I’m in a weird funk, and the more and more I try to get out of this funk the funkier I feel. Usually that’s a good thing, but in this case it’s just writing on the wall that it’s time to stop playing in this giant internet sandbox for a while. Read more
