The Ticker (Weekend Edition): Daily Cafe, Pulling Over, News as Art…

> MSNBC’s Alex Witt and former congressman (and former Gopher) Fred Grandy will host the series Daily Cafe on Retirement Living TV. The show is in its third season, but this will be this is the first season NBC News will be involved. The show will be a mix of news and features and will include NBC News briefs three times an hour as well as a weather report and segments for the RLTV audience, which is 50+. Witt will be based at NBC News HQ while Grandy will host from Washington.

> CBS’s From the Road blog has pulled over for good (or at least for a few years). With the culmination of the campaign, the blog compiled by CBS’ off-air reporters, is shutting down. “It seems more like 14 years ago than 14 months,” said Scott Conroy, who covered Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin.

> 60 Minutes correspondent Morley Safer poured through more than 500 submissions to come up with 70 works of art as part of a multimedia, news-centric exhibit called “In the News.” The exhibit at The Pen & Brush in New York’s Greenwich Village run through November. Top prizes will be awarded next Saturday. And if you’re a news purist, this might be enough to check it out: “What surprised me was the absence of commentary on the national obsession with celebrity news,” Safer said.
