Love him or hate him, New York Yankees announcer John Sterling has a unique style that helps him stand out from other radio broadcasters.

When Suzyn Waldman isn’t cutting him off in the booth, Sterling is probably belting out one of his many trademark home-run calls.

New York magazine breaks down the seven type of home run calls from Sterling:

1. RHYMES
Sterling tends to rely on rhyming when presented with a boring name that he can’t really work with: Russell Martin, Andruw Jones, etc. Having said that, Brett Gardner – whose last name is an actual word – deserves better, don’t you think?

Bart Leivo joins Universal Sports Network as vice president of business development. He had been director of business operations at Yahoo. His Linked In profile is already updated with the news.

“Bart is a dynamic and creative executive whose vision makes for a good fit with our growing network,” Perkins Miller, chief operating officer of Universal Sports, said in a statement. “He has a keen analytical mind and has a great track record in sports business. His experience will be valuable to Universal Sports as we expand our business opportunities and partnerships.”

Dan “Danimal” Hampton was chatting on Pro Football Weekly when he said that “The Vikings need to go down there and hit that town like Katrina.” That, as you can imagine, drew some ire.

Then, however, he went one step further, remarking that the Cowboys are “more of the ‘Brokeback’ variety if you know what I’m talking about.”

Tom Brady Refuses to Watch Hard Knocks

Tom Brady, Super Bowl winning quarterback for the New England Patriots, has a lot on his plate: a team to lead, a kid to parent, a supermodel to appease, magazines in which to pose. He’s a busy dude. It would be understandable if he didn’t have time to watch HBO’s Hard Knocks. In fact, he refuses to check out the show for another reason entirely: It’s about the rival New York Jets.

“I hate the Jets, so I refuse to support that show,” the quarterback told the AP.

Brady, ever the diplomat, added, “”I’d love to say a lot of mean things, but I’d rather not do that, either.”

Considering the show’s ratings jumped 37 percent from last year, HBO might not need Brady’s eyeballs after all.
