Jimmy Johnson Voted Off Survivor

Jimmy Johnson was able to survive “The U” and the Dallas Cowboys, but he was no match for Marty Piombo and the country of Nicaragua.

The Fox Sports analyst was voted off Survivor Wednesday night, the third contestant to depart from the show.

“I had fun, but I was miserable the whole time,” Johnson told the AP.

The 67-year-old Johnson tried out three times for the reality shows. In the end, his celebrity and fame is what caused his eventual downfall in the Espada Tribe.

Piombo was the mastermind behind getting enough votes to send Johnson home.

“I still love the game, and it’s been a great adventure,” Johnson said. “This is the most stressful time I’ve ever gone through in my life, and I’m including Super Bowls and collegiate national championships. I initially said, ‘Keep your strongest members.’ I obviously wasn’t one of the strongest members.” Read more

CNN’s ‘Reliable Sources’ Goes to the Playboy Mansion

Who says hosting a cable news show doesn’t have any perks? Tomorrow CNN’s “Reliable Sources” will be going to the Playboy Mansion, with host Howard Kurtz interviewing Playboy founder Hugh Hefner.

Hefner is in the process of trying to purchase the company and take it private.

For the interview Kurtz ditches the suit and tie for a crisp polo shirt. Hefner, of course, wears his trademark smoking jacket.

• On Wednesday, look for the So What Do You Do? interview with Hefner.

Larry King, Meet Hugh Hefner

This past week the annual PromaxBDA marketing, promotion and design conference was held in Los Angeles.

Playboy founder Hugh Hefner took home the lifetime achievement award, and was interviewed onstage by CNN’s Larry King. The photo above shows PromaxBDA president Jonathan Block-Verk, Hefner and King. Note the odd clothing choices: Block-Verk in a floral jacket, King wearing jeans, suspenders and a gaudy tie (ok, maybe that isn’t so odd for him) and most shockingly, Hef wearing a suit instead of his trademark robe.

Ex-Playboy CEO Flirts with TV News

CHeffner_3.15.jpgMorning shows are a nice place to visit, but ex-Playboy CEO Christie Hefner wouldn’t want to live there.

Hefner, who popped up Friday on “Good Morning America” as a panelist on George Stephanopoulos‘ “Morning Mix,” says friends have encouraged her over the years to pursue a morning anchor gig.

“They said I’d be pretty good at it, and there aren’t enough really thoughtful interview shows on TV,” explains Hefner, 57, a life-long Chicagoan. “Morning shows are the logical forum for me. They talk about all kinds of issues.”

Not to worry, Meredith, Robin, Maggie, Mika and Kiran.

Though Hefner does guest shots every month or so when she’s in New York on business, she’s not chasing any full-time employment these days. She’s much too busy.

Since leaving Playboy Enterprises in January ’09 after 20 years’ running the empire created by her dad, Hugh Hefner, Hefner fille has been juggling three projects.

She’s on the board of John Podesta‘s progressive think tank, Center for American Progress. She’s working with Canyon Ranch Wellness Resorts to expand their brand. Ditto for Columbia Journalism Review, which offered Hefner the publisher’s post. She declined.
