The interviews were serious, wide-ranging, and not too confrontational. Clinton even threw in a bit of praise for CNN during that network’s interview. After the interviewer Jill Dougherty noted that she and her colleague Elise Labott have been covering her for years, Clinton responded:

Thank you. And thanks to both of you. I’ve enjoyed having you be part of the flying circus… to traverse the globe, and appreciate the attention that CNN pays to international news stories. It makes a big difference.

Clinton and President Obama gave a joint interview to “60 Minutes” last night, but this will be the Secretary’s first solo interview since the Inauguration, as well as the Congressional hearings examining what happened in Benghazi, Libya. Update: Clinton will also be giving interviews with NBC, the BBC, CNN and ABC before leaving office on Friday. Andrea Mitchell will interview her for NBC, and Cynthia McFadden for ABC. Kim Ghattas will interview her for the BBC. For CNN, Jill Dougherty and Elise Labott will conduct the interview.

Clinton and FNC have not always had the friendliest relationship, including last year when a number of FNC hosts questioned her illness. Van Susteren stood up for Clinton, and criticized her own colleagues.

It will also be her first interview with Fox News since February, 2011 (save for an appearance in on “On the Record” special about Haiti earlier this month). Update: Wendell Goler in fact interviewed Clinton in October, 2012, and Ed Henry spoke to her in November, 2011.

In addition, FNC says that Bill O’Reilly will be interviewing former Secretary of State Colin Powell today, with the interview to air tomorrow. It will actually be O’Reilly’s first interview with Powell.

CNN is going big on the coverage with a CNN/U.S. and CNNI simulcast beginning at 11:30amET. Wolf Blitzer, Suzanne Malveaux and Hala Gorani anchor coverage with Fareed Zakaria in Egypt, and Gloria Borger, John King, Henry and Jill Dougherty in DC as well as multiple correspondents in several North African and Middle Eastern countries.

FNC’s Jon Scott and Jenna Lee anchor with Mike Emanuel at the White House. Wendell Goler will anchor a special report for any Fox affiliates who choose to take it.

NBC’s chief foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell anchors on MSNBC with a panel that includes Chuck Todd and Richard Engel.

Pres. Obama will only be doing one TV interview after the speech, and it’s not with an American broadcaster. BBC gets the sit-down with Obama at the White House. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be giving an interview to Katie Couric. This is Couric’s last day with the CBS Evening News. She’ll return to New York this afternoon to anchor her final broadcast.

New developments in Libya this morning, with the French military taking action, are keeping the U.S. cable news channels active.

Beginning at 11amET, CNN and CNNI began another simulcast of coverage with anchors T.J. Holmes of CNN and John Vause of CNNI covering the news. Correspondents Nic Robertson and Arwa Damon are in Libya, Ed Henry is in Brazil and Jim Bitterman and Jill Dougherty are in Paris.

Fox News Channel’s Neil Cavuto was already in for a live Saturday morning show on the economic recovery efforts following the earthquake/tsunami in Japan. He kept cameras trained on both Brasil — where President Obama was about to speak alongside Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff and on Paris, where Secy. of State Hillary Clinton was preparing to speak after meetings on the NATO action in Libya. Rick Leventhal and Steve Harrigan are in Libya (spooked by anti-aircraft fire during one live report today. Video after the jump.)

MSNBC went into the NoonET hour with anchor Richard Lui, as Pres. Obama was appearing with Pres. Rousseff. Correspondent Mike Viquiera is in Paris, Chuck Todd is in Brazil and Jim Maceda is in Libya for NBC/MSNBC.

None of the networks had a Brazilian interpreter during Pres. Rousseff’s lengthy opening statement. And just as the president was about to speak, all three networks lost the signal from Brasilia. It returned after about 3 minutes.

Cavuto stayed live until 12:17pm telling the audience, “We just wanted to keep you abreast not only of developments in the political world but certainly in the business world. We hope we served bot those audiences today and we appreciate our normal ‘Cost of Freedom’ audience being patient as we attempted both.”

We chatted with the Fox Newsies, Jamie Colby, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Megyn Kelly. Kelly whipped out her iPhone to show us a picture of baby Edward who turned six months old yesterday.

NBC’s Weekend Today co-anchors Jenna Wolfe and Amy Robach were there. Robach — a newlywed — introduced her husband, the actor Andrew Shue to the crowd.

We chatted up CNN’s State Department correspondent Jill Dougherty and features reporter Jeanne Moos.

CBS News correspondent Manuel Gallegus — normally reporting from Los Angeles is calling New York home these days. A crowd gathered around HLN’s Jane Velez-Mitchell who told us a gentlemen she’d just met may show up as a guest on “Issues” in the coming days.

New mom CNBC’s Trish Regan, MSNBC’s Contessa Brewer and CBS’s Erin Moriarity were also in attendance.

Diagnosed ten years ago, Dougherty, 60, tells LHJ she had a lumpectomy, followed by chemotherapy and radiation. She says she took tamoxifen for five years and now is on Arimidex.

Dougherty recalls that one month into chemotherapy, her hair started to fall out, so she shaved off the rest. “Being reduced to my bare essence,” she says, “got me thinking about who I was and what really mattered…Gradually I came to realize that I wanted to be authentic — yes, even on TV.”

Meaning, that as her hair grew back, she would not dye it as she used to — she’d keep the gray. “And going gray has turned out to be an asset,” Dougherty continues. “It gets me noticed and remembered. But most gratifying of all, it has liberated me to be exactly who I am, on camera and off: a woman, a journalist, a cancer survivor. Thanks to a disease that once threatened my life, my outside finally matches my inside.”
