In the continuing saga of “bright blue scrotum”-gate, the person who was responsible for posting the doctored video to YouTube has been fired. The news was first reported by FTVLive.

John Sanders, who was interviewed about the clip Friday by Breitbart.tv’s B-Cast, was a correspondent for WBAL-TV in Baltimore.

WBAL-TV released this statement today: “WBAL-TV management has learned that a former WBAL-TV employee posted a video regarding Fox News’ John Gibson and Attorney General Eric Holder on his personal YouTube page without the prior knowledge or consent of anyone at WBAL-TV or Hearst-Argyle Television. This video was not approved by, used, or sanctioned in any way by WBAL-TV or Hearst-Argyle Television and we do not condone such behavior. Further, this video does not represent the views of WBAL-TV or Hearst-Argyle Television.”

On yesterday’s radio show, Gibson brought up the video flap again. Click continued to hear the clip (via Johnny Dollar)…

Keith Olbermann in the Middle of Gibson / Griffin Dinner Exchange

Oh boy.

Keith Olbermann gave Fox News’s John Gibson the bronze last night in “Worst Persons” over this.

And today on his radio show, Gibson fired back.

“This is absurd. He wasn’t there,” Gibson said of Olbermann, as both tell a different version of what happened when Gibson ran into MSNBC president Phil Griffin at dinner last week. “And he went on television to say he knows what happened. My God, how low the peacock has sunk.”

Johnny Dollar has the audio from last night’s Countdown, and Gibson’s response on the radio show…

Gibson Describes Exchange With MSNBC Boss: “He Was Looking For Ratings”

Fox News Radio host John Gibson had some comments about MSNBC’s Inauguration coverage yesterday, taking on his usual targets — Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann.

But later in the discussion, Gibson describes a dinner he had “two, three nights ago” at Rao’s Restaurant (“all these media stars go there”). “Suddenly I hear ‘Gibby!’ I look up and there’s Phil Griffin, the guy who runs MSNBC,” said Gibson.

Gibson, who worked at MSNBC before leaving for FNC in 2000, said Griffin told him, “Going left was the right thing to do.”

“He doesn’t have a political bone in his body,” says Gibson. “He was looking for ratings.”

Click continued to hear the exchange, which begins at 4:00 (via Johnny Dollar)…

Will Thompson Inherit O’Reilly’s Radio Spot?

From today’s mediabistro.com Morning Newsfeed:

There’s a new player in the competition to take over Bill O’Reilly‘s Westwood One radio gig — former presidential candidate Fred Thompson. The New York Times’ Brian Stelter writes that Thompson “will begin hosting a two-hour show in March.”

But besides Thompson, Rudy Giuliani is also reported to be in negotiations with Westwood One, while John Gibson was announced last week as replacing O’Reilly’s FOX News Talk role.

“The syndicators hope that boldface names will help retain listeners in a fragmented world of media,” writes Stelter, as he points to a March 2 start date for the likely Thompson-O’Reilly switch.

Also discussed is Joe Scarborough‘s new radio show on WABC.
Glenn Beck To Join Fox News Channel

It’s official. Glenn Beck is bringing his TV program to Fox News Channel in the Spring of 2009. The program currently airs at 7pmET and 9pmET on Headline News and will occupy the 5pmET slot on FNC. Beck will continue his daily radio show The Glenn Beck Program as well. Said FNC founder and chairman Roger Ailes, “As we embark on a new political landscape, Glenn’s thought provoking commentary will complement an already stellar line-up of stars at FOX News.”

Beck added, “I am thrilled and profoundly humbled to have the chance to bring my program to FOX News. Expanding my audience is exciting, but I’m really looking forward to joining Mr. Ailes and his world-class team.”

The 5pmET time slot has seen a variety of programs this year — The Big Story with John Gibson and Heather Nauert; Just In with Laura Ingraham and America’s Election HQ with a rotating cast of anchors.

In addition to his TV and radio deals, Beck is also the author of two best-selling books.

A Headline News spokesperson released this statement tonight: “Glenn has been a terrific employee and colleague to many of us at CNN. We wish him well.”

The Fox News press release is after the jump…

Dozens Protest Outside Fox News Headquarters

What brings out MTV News, AllHipHop.com, Access Hollywood, The Colbert Report and, well, us? A Nas-led protest outside News Corp. today, home of Fox News Channel.

The hip-hop star (left) joined about 50 protesters, (less than another anti-FNC protest in 2004) from two organizations: ColorofChange.org and MoveOn.org who called on the network to, “stop its racist smears against the Obamas and other Black Americans.”

Also in attendance — more than 620,000 signed petitions. Andre Banks, deputy director of Color of Change, told TVNewser the plan was to bring the boxes in one by one, but in the end, “They refused to accept the petitions. They just don’t want to hear it.”

The protesters stood quietly for about an hour until Nas appeared, most holding pre-made or hand-made signs. Many Fox News employees came to check out the scene, including Red Eye host Greg Gutfeld and some of the show’s staff. “This is quite possibly the most boring protest ever,” he told us.

But that was before Nas arrived. The hip-hop star emerged from an SUV to a flutter of cameras, made his way to the front of the protesters and gave a short speech, before heading back into the SUV.

A Fox News spokesperson tells TVNewser, “Fox News believes in all protesters exercising their right to free speech, including Nas, who has an album to promote.”

About 15 minutes after leaving, Nas returned, and he had something to say.

Big Story Props

In what could be the most creative graphic of the day: John Gibson discussing the lifting of the ban on lighters on airplanes. Despite some technical problems during the segment, hats off to whoever came up with that one…
