And yesterday, on the CBS “Early Show,” former NBC News “Today” show senior producer Brian Balthazar, who’s now director of programming for HGTV, was on to talk about “Fameballs,” defined by Balthazar (who does stand-up comedy on the side) as “Someone whose fame snowballs, sometimes for legitimate reasons and sometimes because the media coverage causes it to explode and the American public becomes sick of them.” ie. Jon Gosselin.

Jon Gosselin made the TV rounds Thursday, including an interview with CNN’s Larry King, now Kate Gosselin will sit down with Meredith Vieira live on NBC’s “Today” show Monday. NBC says Kate, “will set the record straight about her husband’s recent actions and the suspension of filming her reality show.”
An “Entertainment Tonight” interview ended up on “The Early Show” this morning:
Gosselin: I was totally shocked. It was definitely like I had — it was totally out of blue.
King: Did Kate — you talk to Kate, right?
King: Or you don’t?
Gosselin: I don’t talk to Kate
King: She didn’t give you any warning?
Gosselin: No, I had no warning at all.
NBC News announced that Kate Gosselin will sit down with Meredith Vieira for a live interview on the Today show Monday. This is Gosselin’s first television interview, other than the ones she gives on her own TLC show, since announcing her separation from Jon Gosselin.
NBC says Kate “will open up about the intense spotlight she and her family have been under the last few months and how they have been dealing with it.”
Ratings for “Jon & Kate Plus 8″ dropped 61% when the show returned from a six-week hiatus Monday night. The show had posted record ratings on June 22, when the couple announced they would separate.
