Nash believes that as the result of the show, she has been fingered for perpetrating a “con,” that her business enterprise has been implicated in illegal activity.

As for Van Susteren, on her own show, the host said, “It is so unbelievably insane to take the taxpayer money to do something like that.”

Nash says calling her insane is false. Also, Van Susteren allegedly responded to one of her guests by saying, “When you say blatant abuse, I say stealing.”

Juliet Huddy, who’s filled in for Banderas during her maternity leave, announced the news last evening, adding, “I’d like to say thank you so much. The U.S. cable news networks are providing coverage this morning of an 8.8 earthquake that struck central Chile overnight, along the Pacific coast. This is the most powerful earthquake to hit the region in 50 years — since 1960′s 9.5 quake, the biggest in recorded history.

FNC, CNN and MSNBC are relying on images from TV Chile as well as from that network’s news channel 24 Horas. CNN is also relying on information from CNN Chile, and CNN en Espanol. MSNBC is using the resources of NBCU’s Spanish-language network Telemundo. That network, as well as Univision, have been airing uninterrupted coverage from Chile this morning.

Reporting times: Fox News – 2:35amEST, CNN/U.S. – 2:59am, MSNBC – 3:25am. The quake struck at 3:34am. Santiago is two hours ahead of EST.

ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX aired special reports this morning as Pres. Obama announced he would accept the Nobel Peace Prize. “I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments,” Obama said from the Rose Garden, “but rather as an affirmation of America’s leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations.” [The screengrab from NBC is from Washington station WRC which was in a local news broadcast at the time.]

CNN, FNC, MSNBC, CNBC and FBN also carried Obama’s remarks.

Fox News confirms the Tweet. She’ll be a substitute anchor for the network where she hosted “Dayside” with Mike Jerrick. That show morphed into “The Morning Show” and went to broadcast TV in January, 2007.

Fox News Channel cut away from President Barack Obama’s town hall meeting on health care reform Tuesday as he faced
a far more polite crowd than has attended many meetings hosted by
members of Congress recently. CNN and MSNBC carried the session in
full. The loud public debates have been a tonic for cable news
networks during normally quiet August.

When FNC cut away, anchors Trace Gallagher and Juliet Huddy interviewed guests and showed soundbites from Sen. Arlen Specter‘s town hall earlier in the day.

“Any contentious questions, anybody yelling, we will bring it to you here,” Gallagher said. Fox never returned to live coverage. Obama seemed to invite tougher questions toward the end of the town hall. “I don’t want people thinking I just have a bunch of
plants in here,” he said. At the event’s end, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell noted the questions were “not too challenging.”
