ESPN RISE is Renamed ESPN High School

ESPN RISE, a multiplatform brand launched in 2008 to produce and air content relevant to high school sports fans, has been renamed ESPN High School.

“ESPN is committed to providing the best high school sports content for fans while creating specific high-quality content and tools for the athlete themselves,” said Glenn Rosenbloom, vice president and general manager, ESPN High School. “By renaming this business, it clearly defines our mission and brings this property into better alignment with the rest of the ESPN networks and content platforms.”

The new brand will roll-out across ESPN platforms throughout August.

ESPN sideline reporter and “Dancing with the Stars” veteran Erin Andrews posted some valuable advice on Twitter: “Make sure u are not too tired when you get on the treadmill…I just busted it in front of everyone…grace!!”

Laurel J. Richie Named WNBA President

Marking executive Laurel J. Richie has been appointed President of the WNBA, NBA Commissioner David Stern announced Thursday.

Richie will assume the day-to-day operations of the women’s basketball league on May 16 and she will report to NBA Deputy Commissioner and COO Adam Silver.

“The WNBA is comprised of the best female basketball players in the world and I’m looking forward to working with these talented women as they strive to achieve their professional goals both on and off the court,” said Richie. “I am fortunate to have worked with an organization as inspiring as Girl Scouts, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to build upon the successes of the WNBA and help grow this league into a world-class business.” Read more
