Anderson Cooper Calls Alec Baldwin’s Anti-Gay Slur Excuse ‘Ridiculous’

CooperBaldwinAfter his latest run-in with a paparazzo yesterday, MSNBC host Alec Baldwin took to Twitter to condemn anti-gay slurs, but not acknowledging that he used one. TMZ heard Baldwin call the photographer a “c*ocksucking f*g” during the incident Thursday afternoon.

That wasn’t enough for CNN’s Anderson Cooper who, this morning took some time out of his reporting in the Philippines to call out Baldwin for his excuse. Baldwin claims “acoustic analysis” would prove he used the word fathead. Those tweets have since been deleted from his Twitter account.

Baldwin has not yet responded to Cooper’s tweets, but the MSNBC host did respond to a local Fox reporter who was outside his home this morning. “You are as dumb as you look,” Baldwin said. “You are with Fox, right?”

Anderson Cooper Responds To Philippine Broadcaster: ‘I Never Said That’

Anderson Cooper in PhilippinesAs he continues to report from the Philippines after last week’s devastating Typhoon Haiyan, Anderson Cooper responded last night directly to Philippine broadcaster Korina Sanchez. As we reported yesterday, Sanchez was critical of Cooper’s coverage.

“Ms. Sanchez seems to be under the mistaken impression that I said ‘I saw no presence of the Philippine government on the ground in Tacloban’…I never said that,” Cooper said. “Obviously I have been on the ground in Tacloban for days, and I have in fact interviewed a very heroic Philippine navy captain, Captain Santiago, who’s going out and helping people. I’ve seen the work that’s being done, and the work that isn’t being done, perhaps even as importantly.”

“Ms. Sanchez is welcome to go there, and I would urge her to go there,” Cooper continued. “I don’t know if she has, but her husband’s the Interior minister… I’m sure she can arrange a flight.”

Cooper also responded to a statement from the President of the Philippines, who said the media should use their perch to lift the spirits of his citizens and show the world their strength.

“I would actually say all week long, in every report we’ve done, we have shown how strong the Filipino people are.”

Cooper also talked with grief-stricken residents, some of whom — proving his original point — are getting no government help. Read more

Anderson Cooper’s ‘Little Old Man Baby’ Comment Has Him In Hot Water In Peru

Andersoon Cooper has fallen out of favor with some of his global audience. First, in the Philippines, where this week Cooper is covering the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan. Cooper has drawn the ire of Filipino journalist Korina Sanchez —whose married to Philippine Interior Secretary Mar Roxas—for critical comments he made on-air about the Philippine government’s response. On her radio show Sanchez remarked that Cooper “doesn’t know what he’s saying.

Meanwhile, some people in Peru are none too happy with Cooper for mocking Miss Peru’s costume during last weekend’s Miss Universe competition.

“What says Peru more than colorful flowers in what appears to be a plastic little old man baby on her shoulder wearing a hat,” Cooper giggled during his “Ridiculist” segment last Wednesday, mocking Cindy Mejia’s costume.

Peru isn’t in on the joke, as Peru’s media has voiced outrage, demanding an apology from Cooper. They say his joke didn’t recognize the fact that Miss Peru’s costume represents the country’s traditional cloth worn by Peruvian women from the Mantaro Valley.
