Marianne Gingrich Helps ‘Nightline’ to #1

After a few weeks of landing in second place in late night, “Nightline” was back on top last week, thanks in part to Brian Ross‘s interview with Marianne Gingrich last Thursday.

“Nightline” took home the top spot in three measurements: Total Viewers and two younger demos. The ABC News program was up +9 over the same week last year and the show remains #1 season-to-date.

ABC’s ratings are based on a 25-minute broadcast, while CBS and NBC are based on approximately :50 minutes (prior to the final national commercial break of each program).

Fake CNN Breaking News Alert Makes Stunning Claim

It’s getting dirty in South Carolina.

Someone sent out a fake CNN Breaking News alert early Thursday morning claiming that Newt Gingrich pressured his ex-wife to have an abortion.

CNN says did not send out the email alert which was sent from fake account made to look like a CNN email address: “BreakingNews@mail.cnn.com.” CNN Political reporter Peter Hamby reports:

It’s not clear how many people received the fake email, though at least two members of the South Carolina GOP Executive Committee, who did not want to be named, were among those who found the missive in their inboxes this morning

Cable News Plays up ABC News Exclusive with Newt Gingrich’s Ex-Wife

Did anyone ever really think ABC wouldn’t run the Marianne Gingrich interview?

In what has been “far away the most event-packed morning of the campaign thus far,” in the estimation of FNC’s Carl Cameron, much of the attention on cable news has been given to Brian Ross‘s interview — airing tonight on “Nightline.”
