• Sarah Palin was offered a syndicated TV talk show from producer Mark Burnett, but turned it down, Newsmax reports. Still, we may not have seen the last of Palin on TV. “Todd and I have always loved working with Mark Burnett, and our family is always up for adventure, so never say never,” she told Newsmax.

• ABC Senior DC Correspondent Jeff Zeleny will begin hosting “The Fine Print,” part of ABCNews.com’s “Power Players” series. Zeleny, who joined ABC from the New York Times in February, will go one-on-one with influential newsmakers to help viewers understand how the government works – or doesn’t.

• CNBC is unveiling its inaugural CNBC Disruptor 50 list this week identifying leaders from range of industries. CNBC’s Julia Boorstin and Andrew Ross Sorkin are revealing 10 disruptors from two industries each day on “Squawk Box” and “Fast Money.” You can see the list here.

The surprise solution was Fox News. Although on the surface an entertainment series might seem out of place on a news and talk channel, there was a school of thought that “The Bible” could play well there. Fox News has an older and more conservative audience that was seen as a good fit for “The Bible.” Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes caught Murdoch’s enthusiasm and a plan was hatched to run it there on Sundays

Clark will be the co-host (along with “Entertainment Tonight”‘s Samantha Harris) of a game show on NBC called “Stars Earn Stripes,” which the network describes as “a fierce and emotionally charged new competition show honoring America’s armed forces.”

The series features celebrities pairing up with law enforcement and military officers, with the celebs later put to the test in challenges to see what they learned from their mentors. Among the contestants is Todd Palin, the husband of Fox News contributor and former GOP VP nominee Sarah Palin. Palin will have some tough competition, as he goes up against singer Nick Lachey, actor Terry Crews (The Expendables), Olympic skier Picabo Street, boxing champ Laila Ali, actor Dean Cain, along with someone from “The Biggest Loser” and a WWE “Diva.”

The show is from producer Mark Burnett, who also produced “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” for TLC. Todd and Sarah’s daughter Bristol Palin is launching her own reality show on Lifetime this Summer.

“Stars Earn Stripes” debuts Monday, August 13, the day after the London Summer games ends. In other words, prepare to see a lot of promos for this show during the Olympics.

The idea behind the show: Five qualified folks, chosen from an applicant pool of thousands, compete for a chance to win a gig at a well-known company. Each week will feature a different batch of contestants and, we assume, a new company (shades of Undercover Boss, sans the undercover part).

Yup, now in order to get a normal job, you might have to appear on a ridiculous reality show, hosted by a journalist no less. Want to become McDonalds’ next burger flipper? Then sign that NDA!

“Lane was a wonderful and talented man who had a great gift: he had the ability to make everyone around him smile and laugh no matter what the circumstances,” said Jeff Fager, CBS News chairman and the executive producer of “60 Minutes”.

Venardos played an integral role in CBS News coverage of major events and breaking news beginning in 1986, when he was named executive producer of Special Events, eventually becoming the unit’s deputy director, director, and ultimately, vice president. The job took him across the globe producing coverage of major global events including the crackdown in China’s Tiananmen Square in May 1989 and the Persian Gulf War in 1990. Venardos was also executive producer of CBS News political coverage in 1986, ’88, ’90, ’92 and ’98.

Venardos retired in January of 2000 but remained a consultant to CBS News. Following his retirement, he returned to New York to produce several of the final “Survivor” live episodes for Mark Burnett. He is survived by his wife, Karen and four children, including Kelly Venardos-Ward who followed her father into the business and is a producer for “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams,” and son Kevin Venardos who is a performer and the Ringmaster of the Big Apple Circus.

“In a complaint filed in California Superior Court earlier this month, David Smith alleged that the Angels Baseball Foundation rigged a singles promotion to ensure a black woman did not win and that Angels employees regularly made racist remarks.

Smith claimed that the Angels did not allow another employee on a radio show because he sounded “too black” and “too ghetto” for an Orange County audience. His complaint also stated that co-workers said negative results were to be “expected when a Jew is hired as baseball’s commissioner.” continued…

In case you haven’t seen our previous coverage, “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” is a documentary series from producer Mark Burnett and starring former Alaska governor and Fox News Channel contributor Sarah Palin.

TLC says 4.96 million total viewers tuned in, including 1.8 million  adults 25-54, and 1.6 million adults 18-49, two of the network’s key demos. That is the best premiere in network history with regards to total viewers, beating the 2003 debut of “What Not to Wear.”

TLC President Eileen O’Neill made the announcement during the Discovery Communications presentation at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.

“The early selects are looking great,” O’Neill said. “It’s become clear it takes a special individual to thrive in Alaska.”

O’Neill also confirmed that an upcoming episode of “Kate Plus 8″ will feature the Palins, with Kate Gosselin and her family visiting Alaska.
