TVNewser is Hiring

And now the news about TVNewser. After 3 and a half years with us, Alex Weprin is moving on from Mediabistro and joining Capital New York, as that site expands under new ownership.

Alex came to Mediabistro as co-editor of TVNewser in April 2010 and is currently the senior editor of the site, as well as a contributor to Lost Remote and the occasional story for FishbowlNY. Over the years, Alex has reported on some of the biggest TV news scoops around. His reporting has given TVNewser some of its largest traffic days ever and along the way he created the SportsNewser section of the site. Alex’s last day with us is next Friday, Oct. 18.

Merrill Knox, who joined as us as co-editor of TVSpy and TVNewser in June 2011, has been promoted to senior editor of TVNewser while continuing her role as senior editor of TVSpy, helping that site grow its unique visitors +80% in that time and making it the second most-visited site in our network. Now the search is on for an editor who will split their time writing for TVNewser and the fast-growing LostRemote.com. Here’s the job posting:

Thanks to Alex for his years of service, and congratulations to Merrill on a well-deserved promotion.

CNN Sending at Least 20 On-Airs to RNC, DNC

The first sentence of CNN’s just-released press release for convention coverage reads like this:

CNN will offer viewers nonstop, unbiased programming across on-air and digital platforms at the Republican and Democratic National Conventions beginning later this month.

It’s as if CNN is saying, if you watch Fox News or MSNBC during the conventions, those networks will lean right, or left, or forward (never backward), so watch us if you want it down the middle. Our TVNewsers Alex Weprin and Merrill Knox will be at the conventions — ahem — keeping them honest.

Anyway, CNN has big plans. Read about them after the jump…
