I was able to somehow persuade a hair salon over the phone to deliver my favorite shampoo and conditioner to my hotel, which was a nice comfort when I inevitably started to run out of products as well, but there would be no doing that with clothing.

Thus, my 11-day trouser run. The longest ever. Thank goodness.

As she notes, when you are on-camera, it doesn’t particularly matter what you are wearing below the waist.

ABC’s on-screen graphic read “exclusive” and the voice over said “she’s only talking to GMA.” 

But NBC’s Michelle Kosinski also interviewed James about the success of the book. And in introducing the story, Matt Lauer pointed out that NBC’s corporate cousin Universal Pictures had secured the movie rights.

Elizabeth Vargas did the sit-down with James for GMA. And to the show’s credit, they didn’t blare it as EXCLUSIVE. But apparently the primetime promo producer didn’t get the message.

Both “Today and “GMA” ran their interviews at the exact same time, at 8:19am. “CBS This Morning” also mentioned how the steamy book is also boosting sales at sex shops. Gayle King reported customers “are asking for some of the products described in the book.”

Lilia Luciano

Luciano was hired away from the Univision-owned network TeleFutura, which is a competitor to NBC’s Telemundo. At TeleFutura, Luciano hosted entertainment programs “Escándalo TV” and “Escándalo Extra.”

Starting Monday, she’ll report for all platforms of NBC News, including “Nightly News,” “Today,” MSNBC and msnbc.com, as well as Telemundo.

“Lilia’s passion for journalism along with her unique reporting expertise make her a strong addition to the team,” said Steve Capus, President of NBC News. “We are excited to bring her on board to join our talented lineup of NBC News correspondents.”

The Puerto Rican-born Luciano is a 2007 grad of the University of Miami.

TVNewser has also learned that current Miami-based correspondent Michelle Kosinski is making the move to NBC’s London Bureau.

CBS “Evening News” and NBC “Nightly News” are planning to broadcast from the region tonight. Katie Couric arrived in Santo Domingo just before 12pmET, and in Port-au-Prince at 2:30pmET.

ABC’s Diane Sawyer heads there from Afghanistan, so she likely won’t be on air from Haiti until tomorrow.

FNC WH correspondent Wendell Goler was first on Hispaniola because…he was already there. Goler was on vacation in the Dominican Republic when the earthquake struck. He reported for “FOX Report” via phone last evening.

At 2:54pmET, Brian Williams did a live phone interview from Haiti. We’ve also learned that “Nightly News” will be one hour tonight.

On Thursday, Sawyer will anchor “World News” and Robin Roberts will anchor “GMA” from Haiti. George Stephanopoulos will anchor “World News” this evening from New York, which is as previously scheduled due to Sawyer’s Afghanistan trip.

Couric will anchor an hour-long broadcast of “Evening News” for CBS this evening.

ABC “World News” will also be one hour.

With the potential of being as severe or even worse than Hurricane Katrina three years ago, Hurricane Gustav is challenging network executives like no story in recent memory. Just like RNC planners, themselves facing a scaled back gathering, news executives, too, have been huddled all weekend coming up with their coverage plans.

NBC News will place Nightly News anchor Brian Williams along the Gulf coast while his predecessor on Nightly News, Tom Brokaw handles anchor duties from St. Paul. “There’s nobody who can put the kind of talent on both stories like NBC News,” division head Steve Capus told TVNewser today. “There’s no such thing as a “B” team when your anchor is Tom Brokaw,” Capus says. For his part, Williams will combine both stories tonight. He’s scored an interview with Sen. McCain that will air on tonight’s Nightly News.

NBC & MSNBC will also have the benefit of on and off camera meteorologists from the Weather Channel. “We feel great that with our pending acquisition of the Weather Channel, we’ve got at least five correspondents from the Weather Channel. That just rounds out a strong reporting team,” Capus says.

Complicating matters for NBC back in St. Paul, the network is the broadcast pool, providing video coverage for all networks. “From a technical load we have a tremendous burden,” Capus says. “We’re not pulling anything on the tech side out of St. Paul.” And as for any criticism that might be leveled at the network from those who might claim unequal DNC & RNC coveraage, Capus says, “The McCain campaign and the RNC have been incredibly sensitive to what’s happening in the Gulf, and we’ve tried to do the same.” Capus doesn’t rule out Williams traveling to St. Paul to report on the final day of the RNC, again, all depending on the storm.

Another NBC News reporter not going to St. Paul: Luke Russert. NBC says he’ll be going to Memphis to cover the evacuation of Gulf coast residents.
