John Clayton Didn't Graduate Twitter 101

In the span of 48 hours, ESPN NFL analyst John Clayton has instantly become a Twitter superstar with over 135,000 followers.

While that’s great and all, I need to ask the fine PR folks in Bristol for a favor … can we get John to do something with his Twitter background?

That tiny head shot is bugging the crap out of me.

By the way, how soon before someone starts @johnclaytonsponytail?

Video: John Feinstein Says Soccer Not a Real Sport

John Feinstein of The Washington Post said during a panel discussion on CSN Washington that soccer is not a real sport because of the lame way it can end on penalty kicks. So, if you were looking for the guy who would rain on the U.S. women’s World Cup victory, look no farther than Feinstein, who said he spent the end of the thrilling U.S. match versus Brazil watching the Yankees game instead. Yeah, because CC Sabathia is such an athlete. Look at him! He’s fat, and fat people are not…

You can agree that soccer matches should not be decided on penalty kicks, but that alone shouldn’t disqualify a game from being a sport. It is entertaining to watch Feinstein criticize Ivan Carter for wearing a pocket square, though. Because men criticizing the wardrobes of other men is definitely a sport…

Video: Finnish Hockey Announcer Marvels at Behind-the-Net Goal

During Friday’s IIHF World Championship game between Finland and Russia, Finland’s Mikael Granlund pulls off a stunning behind-the-net goal after lifting the puck, keeping it to his stick and slinging it past the Russian goalie. The Russian defenders are left wide-opened and gaping, while Finnish announcer Antero Mertaranta marvels at the shot. We think. We don’t speak Finnish, but he seems to be speaking the international language of “Holy crap!”

Bruins announcer shouts at Habs player to “get up!”

Bruins announcer Jack Edwards makes no bones about rooting for his team. And when an opposing player takes a hit and — to Edwards’ thinking, anyway — lays down and tries to draw a penalty, that kind of gamesmanship will get the horns. Watch and listen as Edwards yells at the Habs’ Roman Hamrlik (best name in NHL history) to “get up!” after Hamrlik takes what Edwards consider a perfectly clean hit from the Bruins’ Michael Ryder.
