NBC News Analyst Trashes MSNBC

Soon to be former NBC News political analyst/GOP strategist Mike Murphy told his Twitter followers how he really felt about MSNBC’s election coverage last night:

While Murphy still appears on the networks, specifically on “Meet the Press and “Morning Joe,” he’s no longer a paid NBC analyst. Meanwhile, an MSNBC executive tells TVNewser the network has taken note of Murphy’s Tweet.

> Update: Just to be clear – Mike Murphy is not an NBC News analyst. When you’re described as an analyst for a network, that means you get paid by that network. So, while the headline reads “NBC News Analyst Trashes MSNBC Coverage,” Murphy is not, let me repeat, not an NBC News analyst. He’s just a guy who shows up on the air now and again. Although, probably a lot less from here on out.

Leaked Footage Shows GOP Analysts Bashing Palin

Leaked footage from a commercial break during the NoonET hour of MSNBC showed up on YouTube this afternoon. After Chuck Todd tossed to a break with guests Mike Murphy and Peggy Noonan on set, all three can be heard expressing surprise over the Gov. Sarah Palin VP pick with Murphy and Noonan dismissing the pick as “cynical,” and “about narratives.” So — how did the tape get leaked onto YouTube just hours after the conversation took place?

> Update: Peggy Noonan responds.

> Radar’s Nick Curran takes a look at the spinners and losers when it comes to anchors and analysts covering this year’s election. Some are predictable, others…not so much.

Wolfson Debuts on FNC, Murphy This Sunday

wolfson_7-11.JPGNew FNC contributor Howard Wolfson made his debut last night on Hannity & Colmes.

Sean Hannity was the first FNC personality to welcome Wolfson to the team. “Welcome aboard as a contributor,” he said. “I don’t think we’ll be agreeing often, but I don’t agree with guy next to me that often either.”

“That’s what makes for good television,” Wolfson said.

And on the other side of the ticket, former Sen. John McCain adviser Mike Murphy makes his debut as NBC News contributor this Sunday on Meet the Press. Murphy will be part of the panel featuring Harold Ford, Jr. and Andrea Mitchell.

McCain Adviser Joining MSNBC?

murphy_7-9.JPGIn a New York Times story today about what John McCain adviser Mike Murphy is not going to be doing (officially joining the McCain staff), it reveals what he will be doing — joining MSNBC.

The TimesAdam Nagourney reports, “Murphy, Mr. McCain’s strategist in the 2000 presidential race, is going to take a position as a commentator on MSNBC.”

The McCain camp declined to comment, but an MSNBC insider tells TVNewser a deal is likely be signed, “very soon.”
