You Might Want to Tune in to Tonight’s ‘On the Record w/ Greta Van Susteren’

So, someone at Tucker Carlson‘s “Daily Caller” stepped in it, or so thought defender of women politicians everywhere Greta Van Susteren. Greta wasn’t <a href="http://gretawire.foxnewsinsider.com/2011/09/18/tucker-carlsons-the-daily-callers-disgusting-post/"target="_blank">having any of it. So Carlson and Van Susteren went back and forth over the weekend on email and <a href="http://gretawire.foxnewsinsider.com/2011/09/19/journalism-and-judgment-filling-in-the-blanks-for-tucker-carlson-to-politico/"target="_blank">on their sites, which, of course, has since been picked up by other media sites.

Without getting into too much detail here (click on any of the links above). It involves Sarah Palin, Mike Tyson and a sexually explicit headline in a “Daily Caller” story first published Friday night.

And now it’ll all come to a head tonight on Van Susteren’s show at 10pmET when Fox News contributor Carlson goes “On the Record.”

Video: Michael Strahan Supports Gay Marriage

Fox Sports analyst and former New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan is the latest athlete to film a video for the Human Rights Campaign in support of marriage equality.

“I have plenty of gay friends, and I don’t judge them,” Strahan told The New York Times. “I want them to have all the same rights I have, and all the opportunities I have to be in a relationship, a great relationship, with the person that they’re in love with.”

If someone wants to look at it that way, if it makes someone who is African-American feel more comfortable and want to join and get behind it, that’s great,” he added. “I look at it as a human rights type of situation more than anything else.”

NBC chairman Ebersol joins NHL commish Bettman for Sirius talk

NBC Chairman Dick Ebersol will be today’s guest on NHL Hour with Commissioner Gary Bettman on NHL.com and SIRIUS XM Radio at 6 p.m. ET. The two will discuss the 10-year television deal that the league signed with NBC earlier this week.

“There is absolutely <a href=""There is absolutely nothing that fits the NBC Sports Group better on all platforms than the National Hockey League, between the national cable rights, the broadcast rights and the digital rights," Ebersol said during an NHL conference call yesterday.
NBC Shuffles Versus Lineup

Versus is jumping on board with the renewed interest in hockey, expanding coverage and generally putting in a good shift.

The Comcast outlet, however, is seeing some changes now that the NBC brass are involved. The latest: No. 2 play-by-play man Joe Beninati is out.

The news sparked anger in the Washington D.C. area, but Beninati will remain Washington Capitals play-by-play man on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic.

Mike Emrick remains the network’s No. 1 choice, while “inside the glass” reporter Pierre McGuire will join Versus’ coverage from the Peacock.

SI Drops The Hammer On Lance Armstrong

Sports Illustrated has new details on the case against Lance Armstrong in this week’s issue.

Below are excerpts from Selena Roberts and David Epstein‘s article, which claims Armstrong had three tests with unusually high testosterone-epitestosterone levels.

ARMSTRONG TIED TO THREE TESTS INDICATING UNUSUALLY HIGH TESTOSTERONE – EPISTOSTERONE LEVELS

According to Dr. Donald Catlin’s estimate, his lab at UCLA performed more than two dozen tests of Armstrong between 1990 and 2000. In May 1999, USA Cycling sent a formal request to Catlin for past test results – specifically, testosterone-epitestosterone (T:E) ratios – for a cyclist identified by a source with knowledge of the request as Lance Armstrong. Three results indicated high T:E ratios, specifically: a 9.0-to-1 ratio from a sample collected on June 23, 1993; a 7.6-to-1 from July 7, 1994; and a 6.5-to-1 from June 4, 1996. continued…

The SportsNewser Interview: Frank Deford

Tuesday night on HBO’s Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel, corespondent and legendary sports writer Frank Deford profiles University of Connecticut women’s basketball head coach Geno Auriemma.

Auriemma has developed quite the reputation over the years as being a fiery coach. Deford hopes his feature on the Huskies coach will show that there’s more to Auriemma than meets the naked eye.

Deford chatted with SportsNewser the weekend on his role at HBO and his outspoken comments on the now infamous trick play at Driscoll Middle School.

SportsNewser: What can people expect from your report on Geno Auriemma?

Frank Deford: I think it’s a look at Auriemma. I think most people see him, as they do so many coaches, when he’s on the court. He looks like a very frenetic fellow then. What we have tried to point out is there’s many more layers to Geno Auriemma than what you see on the court. If you think about it, it would be hard for him to continue to get players, especially young women, if he were some nutcase. In fact, the players like him a great deal and find him to be almost an uncle type figure.

How much time did you spend with Auriemma?
