“Caught on Camera,” a staple of MSNBC weekends and hosted by Contessa Brewer, is getting an NBC primetime run hosted by Nick Cannon. Like the MSNBC version, the two-part series, airing tonight and next Friday at 8pmET/7pmCT, is produced by NBC News’s Peacock Productions. NBC says the “high-octane series” will feature “everything from extreme rescues and white-knuckle car chases to merry pranksters, colossal crashes and viral sensations.”

Tonight NBC’s primetime newsmagazine “Dateline” is having a “Holiday Survival” special. The special will give gifting advice, office party etiquette and holiday tips from people like Hoda Kotb, Kathie Lee Gifford and Bravo’s Andy Cohen. Lester Holt will also interview actor/comedian Nick Cannon.
Update: The special has been postponed due to the shooting in Connecticut.
To help promote the special, the folks at “Dateline” had correspondent Keith Morrision, with his inimitable voice, read Clement Clarke Moore‘s classic A Visit From St. Nicholas, known colloquially as The Night Before Christmas.
ABC’s “20/20,” which featured Chris Cuomo‘s interview with the daughter-in-law of Bernard Madoff as well as Barbara Walters‘s interview with Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon was the #1 show of the night in two of the younger demos: A18-49 and A25-54. Cuomo’s interview with Stephanie Madoff Mack was the first time many of the Madoff family secrets have been revealed. In Walters’s sit-down interview with Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon, the couple discussed details of their struggle to conceive and Carey’s high-risk pregnancy.
This was the show’s best viewership in more than 18 months, since February 2010, and its highest A18-49 rating since January 2010. Going head-to-head “20/20″ more than doubled “Dateline NBC” in the demo (2.1 vs. 1.0) and nearly doubled in Total Viewers (7.6M vs. 3.9M). “20/20″ helped make ABC #1 for the night in Adults 18-49.
