Nora Zimmett Named SVP of Programming at The Weather Channel

The-Weather-ChannelNora Zimmett has been named senior vice president of live programming at The Weather Channel. Zimmett joins the network from CNN, where she was most recently the co-creator and executive producer of the weekend edition of “New Day” and “Smerconish.”

“Nora’s vast experience covering important issues makes her the ideal leader for a team with an editorial mission focused on safety and preparedness as well as science,” Weather Channel president David Clark said in a statement. “She is an amazing journalist and brings with her an understanding of storytelling and how important it is to our network.”

Prior to working at CNN, Zimmett worked at Bloomberg TV and Fox News. In her new role, she will be based in Atlanta.

CNN Names New EP for Weekend Morning Show

As Randi Kaye takes over as anchor of CNN’s weekend morning show, the network has also named a new executive producer for the program, Nora Zimmett.

Zimmett joins CNN from Bloomberg TV, where she was a senior producer in Los Angeles. Before joining Bloomberg, she worked as a producer at HDNet and Fox News Channel.

Bryan Bell is also moving to CNN’s Atlanta bureau as the executive producer of the 9-11amET hours of “CNN Newsroom.” Bell, who has been with CNN for more than a decade, has spent the last six years as a member of the senior production team of CNN’s morning programming.
