NBC Sports Announces New Executive Leadership Team

NBC Sports Group Chairman Dick Ebersol announced the new executive leadership team for his newly formed group, which consists of NBC Sports, Golf Channel, VERSUS, 11 Comcast SportNets and their digital assets.

Former Turner Entertainment Group President Mark Lazarus was hired as President of NBC Sports Cable Group and will report directly to Ebersol. While at Turner Sports, Lazarus was responsible for the network’s acquisition of the rights to the NBA, NASCAR, MLB playoffs, Wimbledon and the British Open.

“People are the most important part of any organization and the experience, talent and leadership ability of this group is second to none,” said Ebersol. “As we formed the new NBC Sports Group by combining the storied history and broad reach of NBC Sports with Comcast’s 24/7 ability to super-serve the fan, it was imperative to create a leadership team that possessed a wide array of experience and expertise across the business. I could not be happier with this group of collaborative leaders and I feel that our division is well positioned going forward.”

Shannon Sharpe Appears on CBS Pregame Despite Potential Legal Trouble

Could this be the beginning of the end for CBS’s NFL Today co-host Shannon Sharpe?

According to the New York Post:

A woman named Michele Bundy, believed to be Sharpe’s girlfriend, was granted a temporary restraining order against him on Thursday in Atlanta’s Fulton County Superior Court. The dispute has been classified as a “family violence” case, though it is not known why Bundy filed for the restraining order.

Phil Mushnick reports women have filed 10 civil complaints against Sharpe since 1994.

The former Denver Broncos star, who appeared on the CBS show Sunday, joined the network in 2004. He appeared on the pregame show Sunday, with network brass saying that no charges had been filed.
