  • Philip Alongi has been named EP of the PBS show “NJ Today with Mike Schneider.” Alongi had been senior producer of the show. TV news runs in the Alongi family. Alongi is the son of Phil Alongi, a 30-year NBC News veteran, who now runs Alongi Media

  • The Foundation for the National Archives has elected five new Board members, including Soledad O’Brien, CNN Special Correspondent. The mission of the Archives is to provide access to government records and promote the relevance of American history.

• According to preliminary numbers, CBS News’ prime time Hurricane/RNC special anchored by Katie Couric in New Orleans, finished first in New York City, ahead of NBC’s Dateline and ABC’s 20/20. The Couric special finished #2 in the metered markets.

• FNC anchors Bret Baier, Brit Hume and Megyn Kelly took a trip to the Mall of America earlier this week, and Kelly showed the picture of the trio this morning riding the roller coaster.
