Rebecca Diamond Leaves Fox News and FBN, Plans to Start Web Venture?

Former Fox Business anchor and Fox News Channel contributor Rebecca Diamond appears to have left the network, according to Inside Cable News. Diamond had twins earlier this year, and has been on maternity leave. ICN reports that she posted that she would be leaving FNC and staring her own business on her Facebook page:

I’m now ready to get back to work. But not at Fox!! I’m not going back to FBN. Instead, I’m going to launch my own media biz. More details to come but you will be seeing and hearing a lot more from me.

‘Willis Report’ to Replace ‘Happy Hour’

willis_5-26.jpgGerri Willis is indeed getting her own show that will replace the recently canceled “Happy Hour” on Fox Business Network.

It’s now confirmed that “The Willis Report” will begin airing Monday June 7th. Willis joined FBN earlier this year and, at the time, the network announced that Willis would host a “primetime weekend program” by that name that would “make its debut in the second quarter of this year.”

When news broke Friday that the 5pmET “Happy Hour” — which broadcast from the bar at the Waldof-Astoria — was being removed from the FBN line-up, TVNewser had heard that Willis would anchor a program in that time slot.

Still no word on what will happen exactly to “Happy Hour” hosts Eric Bolling, Rebecca Diamond and Cody Willard.

FBN’s ‘Happy Hour’ Canceled?

happyhour_5-21.jpgTVNewser hears from multiple sources at Fox Business Network that “Happy Hour,” FBN’s 5pmET show hosted by Rebecca Diamond, Cody Willard, and Eric Bolling, has been canceled and will be ending in two weeks.

The show, which launched in October of 2007, is broadcast live weekdays from the Bull & Bear pub at the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan.

Update: Fox Business has confirmed the cancellation.

More: An FBN tipster tells TVNewser much of the technical crew has been let go with about two dozen jobs affected. We also hear Gerri Willis, who was brought over from CNN in March, could potentially be named the new 5pm host, but nothing official.

Update: A network spokesperson tells Mediaite that the number of affected positions is “seven project-based employees (who were not considered regular full time staff of the network).”

Happy Hour Friday at Yankee Stadium

new_yankee_stadium.jpgFox Business Network’s “Happy Hour” will be broadcasting live from Yankee Stadium today (5-6pmET). “Happy Hour” hosts Cody Willard, Rebecca Diamond, and Eric Bolling are going to be in the Hard Rock Bar talking about “how to make money and save money, while still being able to afford to take the family to a ballgame.” (At the New Yankee Stadium?! Does it involve a second mortgage?)

Among other guests, legendary Yankee Reggie Jackson will appear as well as Yankees President Randy Levine.

“Happy Hour” has been known for leaving its usual digs in the Bull & Bear bar at the Waldorf Astoria for live shows from other locations including the Hamptons, Miami Beach for spring break, and Glendale, AZ for Super Bowl XLII.

>Update: It’ll be a weekend of baseball for Bolling. He Tweets this morning:

I am throwing out the first pitch @ STL Cards Sun… same mound as B. Obama last Tue. I’ll try to bring some heat. He threw like a girl ; )

The Ticker: Frei, Maddow, Diamond…

> BBC World News America, anchored by Matt Frei, posted a .14 rating in the A25-54 demo on Monday, tying CNN’s Lou Dobbs Tonight, reports Broadcasting & Cable. Last week the broadcast averaged a .10.

> Food & Wine Magazine editor Kate Krader has dinner with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow for the “Mouthing Off” blog. Topics of conversation: “Gitmo detainees going to Palau” and “ice cubes in Ssam’s excellent Old-Fashioned.”

> FBN’s Happy Hour co-host Rebecca Diamond appeared today on The Tyra Banks Show. Diamond explained how to “invest in yourself” and more. Click continued to see the clip…

“Happy Hour” For Dylan Ratigan

FBNBolling_3.27.jpgDylan Ratigan may not be hosting CNBC’s 5pm show “Fast Money” anymore, but he turned up on FBN’s 5pm show “Happy Hour”…in a cutout…behind his one-time “Fast Money” panelist-turned FBN anchor, Eric Bolling.

The cutout has not yet been referenced by hosts Bolling, Rebecca Diamond and Cody Willard.

Meanwhile, just before 5pmET, Ratigan sent the Tweet below:

> Update: Foiled again by Twitter! Someone set up the account with Dylan Ratigan’s name and image. People close to Ratigan tell TVNewser he doesn’t have a Twitter account.

“Hannity” Premieres With Big Ratings Victory

hannity_1-13.jpgThe premiere of “Hannity” last night won its 9pmET slot in Total Viewers and the A25-54 demo, beating MSNBC and CNN combined in Total Viewers.

The program was up 51% in Total Viewers and 78% in the demo compared to “Hannity & Colmes” in January ’09.

Tonight’s show features the 2nd part of Sean Hannity‘s interview with President Bush, and a Great American Panel of Bob Beckel, FBN’s Rebecca Diamond and Karen Hanretty. Tomorrow’s show features the first part of Hannity’s interview with Don Imus (pictures on his show’s new blog).

Coming tomorrow: TVNewser talks to FNC’s SVP of programming Bill Shine about the new show and overall changes to the FNC line-up.
