In Not So Happy Times, Happy Hour Takes a Break From the Bar

HappyHour_10.9.jpgSome of you have asked about the status of Fox Business Network’s Happy Hour. The 5pmET show has been put on the [top] shelf some days because, well, these hours and days aren’t so happy. An FBN spokesperson tells TVNewser, Happy Hour has been “preempted from time to time to cover breaking news of the financial crisis.”

The show is on the schedule today, but depending on what the markets do this afternoon it could be preempted again. Happy Hour airs live from the Bull & Bear pub at New York’s Waldorf Astoria hotel.

Hosts Cody Willard and Rebecca Gomez have been appearing on other FBN shows on the days Happy Hour is preempted.

Quintanilla Heads to Hamptons

squakmiami_7-17.JPGSquawk Box co-anchor Carl Quintanilla will be live from Sag Harbor, New York in the Hamptons tomorrow beginning at 6amET. Co-anchors Joe Kernen and Becky Quick will be at CNBC.

The Hamptons have been a popular destination for the biz nets this week — FBN’s Happy Hour team of Rebecca Gomez and Eric Bolling were live from Sag Harbor Monday and Tuesday.

Joining Quintanilla at Beacon restaurant at the Sag Harbor Cove Yacht Club tomorrow will be Prudential chairman Howard Lorber, Niche Media Holdings CEO (publisher of Hamptons Magazine) Jason Binn and Barack Obama fundraiser and real estate developer Don Peebles, among others.

Happy Hour Heads to the Hamptons

gomeztv_7-11.JPGFBN’s Happy Hour will be migrating to where many of the bar patrons in its usual locale, the Bull & Bear in the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, likely frequent.

The 5pmET program airs live from The Hamptons on Monday and Tuesday. B. Smith’s seaside restaurant in Sag Harbor, New York serves as the watering hole of choice.

A tour of Billy Joel‘s yacht and the yacht Intuition II (one of America’s largest), takes place, as well as several interviews with money moguls and entrepreneurs summering in The Hamptons.

Co-anchor Rebecca Gomez is joined by a guest anchor, as regular Cody Willard is still recovering from Lyme Disease.

> Update: The shows will be simulcast on Plum TV on Long Island.

Happy Hour Anchor Willard Has Lyme Disease

willard_7-7b.JPGA few tipsters voiced some “concern” regarding a puffy left eye of Happy Hour co-anchor Cody Willard on Wednesday.

It turns out the FBN host will be off air for a bit — he blogs this weekend that he has been diagnosed with Lyme Disease. The Lyme Disease, he writes, caused Bell’s Palsy on his face.

“It looks like we probably caught this Lyme Disease quickly enough that I will be fully cured from it,” writes Willard. “In that sense, getting this Bell’s Palsy to get me to the hospital to get cured is also a blessing.”

Willard writes he likely contracted the disease, “from a camping trip in the woods in upstate New York,” a few weeks ago.

There is no word how long Willard be out (although it could potentially be a while). Eric Bolling pulls a stool up to the bar to fill in as co-anchor with Rebecca Gomez on the 5pmET show.
