Video: ESPN's Doris Burke 'Abandoned' by Mavs Players

ESPN reporter Doris Burke has had a rough week. First a production assistant did her wrong by inadvertently running a clip that had Burke flubbing her lines and cursing, and last night after the Mavericks closed out the Thunder to advance to the NBA Finals, Burke was left high and dry when she looked to interview Dirk Nowitski and Jason Kidd. Burke did get words from Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and head coach Rick Carlisle, but she may have dawdled too long on the suits (and yes, Cuban is a suit) and missed her chance to get face time with the people most responsible for the Mavs’ win: The players.

Here’s the clip of Burke calling around for Dallas players who’ve already left the area.

Sportsman Channel Recruits Senior Vice President/Creative Director

The Sportsman Channel – All Fishing. All Hunting. All the time. – taps Michael Magnotta as its new senior vice president/creative director. He departs Versus, following his former boss Gavin Harvey who is Sportsman’s CEO.

Harvey had some nice things to say about his once and future charge:

“Michael brings tremendous experience, insight and creativity to Sportsman. He is one of cable TV’s most accomplished creative executives, winning dozens of industry awards for outstanding work ranging from tune — in promos to show opens to network rebrands. Michael was an invaluable leader during the extensive and complex process of repositioning, renaming, and rebranding Outdoor Life Network (OLN) to VERSUS. He will make a powerful contribution to our position as the category leader.”

Before jumping into the sports world, Magnotta served as the creative director at Bravo and the Independent Film Channel.
