‘The Daily Show’ Tells Story of ‘Family That Stays Together’…’Morning Joe’

MJ Daily Show“The Daily Show’s” Samantha Bee‘s infatuation with cable news romance apparently isn’t limited to the “love story” she depicted between Fox News’ “The Five’s” Greg Gutfeld and Dana Perino—she set her sights on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” last night.

Bee told the story of “daddy Joe” and “mother Mika,” who together create a “rocket ship of passion that is middle-aged coupledome.”

She then shared what the fruits of the co-hosts “romance” has produced: boy pundits, listing off “Willie”(Willie Geist), “Marky” (Mark Halperin), “the Toddster” (Chuck Todd), and a cast of other show regulars.

Bee then got emotional as she showed clips of Joe and Mika arguing. “You guys are going to get divorced, aren’t you? Please don’t make me go live with Lawrence O’Donnell… he doesn’t flush the toilet,” Bee cried.

“Morning Joe” is not reciprocating the love. This morning the show opened instead with a “Colbert Report” clip. Now that Bee has told Fox News and MSNBC “love stories” we anxiously await her CNN version.

‘Daily Show’ Tells a Love Story: ‘The Five’s’ Greg Gutfeld and Dana Perino

“The Daily Show” correspondent Samantha Bee put on a one-woman show last night dedicated to the love story between two of Fox News’ “The Five” co-hosts: “young girl new to the bit city” Dana Perino and “rebelicious” Greg Gutfeld.

Confused about what makes “The Five” different than a panel show, Bee told host Jon Stewart the show is more than that:

“‘The Five’ is the storyboard of the human condition,” Bee said. “The truth about ‘The Five’ is that it’s a story as old as time…a story of love.”

Bee then played a montage of warm moments between Perino and Gutfeld, turning to the story’s other suitors for Dana: co-host Eric Bolling and “villain” Bob Beckel.

Bee concluded with uncontrollable anguish at the revelation that Gutfeld is married to another woman in real life (Perino is also married), but still “gallivanted around” while allowing “precious Dana” fall in love with him.

>Update: Apparently, the loving couple Bee depicted enjoyed the tale of their romance. Check out the gift she received today:

‘I Went to the New York Times to Find Out Why Those TV A**holes Wouldn’t Cover It’

The Daily Show’s Samantha Bee went searching for answers last week into why no one covered a shady but perfectly legal deal brokered by private equity firm Blackstone.

“How much coverage has this incredibly egregious behavior gotten on the 24 hour news networks?” Jon Stewart asked Bee. “Zero. Bupkis. “Really? 600 television channels three 24-hour news networks…”

“And nothing.” Not the New York Times, not BuzzFeed, but almost Pat Kiernan.

Backward “G”s All Around

In the wake of Ashley Todd‘s backward B story, the parodies began popping up.

On Fox News’ late night comedy/news hybrid, Red Eye, regular guest Bill Schultz sported a backward G throughout Friday night’s show.

In the fake news world, Daily Show correspondent Samantha Bee also had a backward G during a segment on last night’s show. The ‘G’ represented different people, however — Red Eye host Greg Gutfeld and former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan.

Tough Act to Follow

WmsKARE11_9.3.jpgNBC’s Brian Williams was a guest on the 4pm show at Minneapolis/St. Paul affiliate KARE-11. The guest in the next segment: yours truly. Williams talked about covering the convention, we talked about covering Williams…and Couric, Gibson and the rest.

Williams told us he might be making another appearance on Comedy Central — on his way to the KARE set he ran into Daily Show correspondent Samantha Bee shooting her story.

Stahl, Zakaria Make Cameo in Daily Show Promo

As he gears up for convention coverage, Jon Stewart is promoting his “Best F’ing News Team on the Planet.” Last night, comedy-spondent Samantha Bee, “with the only in utero election center in the business,” got the treatment, with cameos from real TVNewsers Lesley Stahl and Fareed Zakaria:
