Hoda and Kathie Lee on New Year’s Eve

klgandhoda_a

It’s pretty much New Year’s Eve every day on the FHOTS (Fourth Hour of the ‘Today’ Show), but now Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford are bringing their schtick — and the booze — to NBC’s primetime for a New Year’s Eve special. Gifford and Kotb host “A Toast to 2013!” on New Year’s Eve at 8pmET/7pmCT.

From Pope Francis to Paula Deen, from Anthony Weiner to Prince George and from selfies to twerking, the 2-hour special will discuss the buzziest stories of the last year. Jane Lynch, Michael Buble, Sheryl Sandberg, Pharrell Williams and Questlove weigh in on some of the year’s biggest moments. They’re joined by NBC News and MSNBC hosts who remember the old and ring in the new.

The Evening Ticker: O’Donnell, Sproul, Petallides

  • In her first story for “60 Minutes” Norah O’Donnell profiles Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg for Sunday’s show. Sandberg’s on a mission to jump start the women’s revolution.

  • Robin Sproul is celebrating 20 years as ABC’s Washington Bureau Chief. Sproul joined ABC in 1981 and spent 11 years as bureau chief for ABC News Radio before taking on TV in 1993.

  • A mini celebration broke out on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange today — not because of another new high for the Dow –  but in honor of FBN’s Nicole Petallides who delivered her 25,000th market report for the network.

Facebook to Reveal Life-Saving Tool on ‘Good Morning America’

Now we know why ABC’s Robin Roberts made a quick trip out West after last Thursday’s “Good Morning America.” Roberts got a sit-down with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. In a press release ABC News says, “Zuckerberg gives Robin Roberts the first look at a new Facebook tool which has the power to save lives.” In addition, ABC “World News” anchor Diane Sawyer interviews Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg to “discuss the personal stories that led to this new initiative and its goals.”

Interesting that Facebook has chosen ABC News as the place to reveal the new tool, considering ABC’s online partner Yahoo! has just added two patents to its infringement lawsuit against Zuckerberg’s company which was first filed last month.

The “GMA” and “World News” interviews air tomorrow.
