Learn How to Launch Your Career as a TV News Reporter

tv_reporter09TV News Reporting, a four-week intensive course starting January 14 in New York, teaches students what it takes to be on the news today.

Stephanie Tsoflias, a reporter/anchor at News 12 and founder of Reel Reporting, says “I didn’t want creating a demo reel to be a mystery to aspiring reporters anymore. Managers don’t want to see your college reels, or reels with only entertainment pieces. They want reporters who dig up stories for their reel that no one else has.”  Tsoflias has made it her mission to teach her students how to create a reel that will catch the attention of hiring managers at TV stations across the country, without going through a conventional university.

Her Mediabistro class alone has launched the career of at least four junior TV news reporters.  One of her students looked into expensive university courses, but decided to go another route. She describes her experience with Tsoflias as “proving to be one of the best investments I have ever made.  A month after the course was over, I had two interviews at TV stations, including one in a top 100 market. One month after that, I was offered a job with high exposure on a TV morning news show.”

With more outlets for continuing education than ever before, students have options of cost-effective, practical learning both online and in their cities. If you’re looking to become the next face of TV news in the greater New York area, please see more details on Tsoflias’ Mediabistro class here.
