CNN Anchor Don Lemon’s On-Air Revelation

CNN anchor Don Lemon made a very personal admission in the most public of ways — during his live newscast. Lemon was discussing the sexual abuse cases against Bishop Eddie Long with three members of Long’s church who continue to support him.

Lemon had just played a soundbite from the lawyer of one of Long’s accusers about how the bishop allegedly got close to one of the young men in his church.

Let me tell you what got my attention about this and I have never admitted this on television. I’m a victim of a pedophile when I was a kid. Someone who was much older than me.

Lemon’s admission led to an audible gasp from one of his guests. “I’ve never admitted that on television and I never told my mom until I was 30 years old,” Lemon said later in the segment. “Especially African-American men don’t want to talk about those things.”

Almost immediately, viewers began showing support on his Facebook page.

Haggard Interviews Begin Airing Tonight

haggard_1-28.jpgIf Gov. Rod Blagojevich was the big “get,” early this week, former Evangelical leader Ted Haggard is the big end-of-week get. As we reported yesterday, he’ll be on Good Morning America and Larry King Live tomorrow and CBS’ The Early Show on Friday.

But now you won’t have to wait until tomorrow. ABC News’ Dan Harris sits down with Haggard this afternoon, and it airs tonight on World News and Nightline. Also interviewed are his wife, Gayle, and daughter, Christy.

Tomorrow morning Haggard and his wife will be live on Good Morning America.

This Week’s Other Big Get

Following up on Blago, the broadcast and cable networks are going after Ted Haggard, the once mighty evangelical pastor who resigned in disgrace after admitting soliciting a male prostitute for sex and drugs. Haggard is the subject of an HBO documentary “The Trials of Ted Haggard” which premieres Thursday night.

Haggard will appear on Good Morning America Thursday morning, Larry King Live Thursday night and on the Early Show on CBS Friday morning.

Last night on Anderson Cooper 360, the documentary’s producer Alexandra Pelosi talked about the making of the documentary. Pelosi is a former NBC News producer and the daughter of Speaker of the House Rep. Nancy Pelosi.
