The Top Cable News Shows in July Were…

Fox News had the top 14 programs in total viewers and the top nine programs in the key A25-54 demographic in July 2014. As usual, “The O’Reilly Factor” was the number one program in cable news in both total and demo viewers, averaging 2,832,000 total viewers and 446,000 demo viewers. “The Kelly File” was second with 2,386,000 total viewers and 386,000 demo viewers. “The Five,” “Special Report with Bret Baier” and “Hannity” rounded out the top five.

CNN was the only network other than Fox News to have a show in the top ten among the A25-54 demo: “Anderson Cooper 360,” which averaged 189,000 demo viewers, placed tenth overall. CNN’s highest-rated show in total viewers was “The Sixties,” which averaged 613,000 viewers and placed 19th overall.

“Shark Tank” led the way for CNBC, placing 32nd overall in total viewers and 12th overall in the demo. The program averaged 406,000 and 182,000 viewers, respectively.

MSNBC’s highest-rated show was “The Rachel Maddow Show,” which placed 15th overall in total viewers and 16th overall in the demo. Maddow’s program averaged 795,000 total viewers and 175,000 demo viewers.

Nancy Grace” led HLN in both ratings measurements, placing 34th in total viewers and 27th in the demo with 371,000 and 129,000 viewers, respectively.

The top-rated show in total viewers on Fox Business was “Imus in the Morning,” which ranked 75th overall. “Stossel” led the way in the demo, ranking 76th.

As usual, “The O’Reilly Factor” was the number one program in cable news in both total and demo viewers, averaging 2,136,000 total viewers and 308,000 demo viewers. “The Kelly File” was second in total viewers, with 2,337,000, followed by “The Five,”  “Special Report with Bret Baier” and “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.” In the demo, “The Five” was second, Kelly’s program was third and Baier’s program was fourth.

CNBC was the only network other than Fox News to have a show in the top ten among the A25-54 demo: “Shark Tank,” which averaged 210,000 A25-54 viewers, placed ninth overall. “Shark Tank” also led CNBC in total viewers, averaging 442,000 viewers and placing 23rd overall.

MSNBC’s highest-rated show was “The Rachel Maddow Show,” which placed 14th overall in total viewers and 11th overall in the demo. Maddow’s program averaged 738,000 total viewers and 176,000 demo viewers.

Anderson Cooper 360″ was the top CNN program in total viewers and the demo, placing 21st and 19th, respectively. The show averaged 452,000 total viewers and 145,000 A25-54 viewers for the month.

“Forensic Files” led HLN in both ratings measurements, placing 38th in total viewers and 20th in the demo with 323,000 and 142,000 viewers, respectively.

The top-rated show in total viewers on Fox Business was “Imus in the Morning,” which ranked 89th overall. “Stossel” led the way in the demo, ranking 87th.

As usual, “The O’Reilly Factor” was the number one program in cable news in both total and demo viewers, averaging 2,937,000 total viewers and 450,000 demo viewers. “The Kelly File” was second in total viewers, with 2,337,000, followed by Bret Baier‘s “Special Report” with 2,114,000. “The Five” was second in the demo, with 358,000.

MSNBC’s highest-rated show was “The Rachel Maddow Show,” which placed 14th overall in total viewers and sixth overall in the demo. Maddow’s program averaged 996,000 total viewers and 287,000 demo viewers.

Anderson Cooper 360″ was the top CNN program in total viewers and the demo, placing 23rd and 26th, respectively. The show averaged 421,000 total viewers and 127,000 A25-54 viewers for the month.

Nancy Grace” led HLN in both total viewers and the demo. Grace’s program averaged 410,000 total viewers and 135,000 demo viewers, placing 25th overall in both ratings measurements.

As for the business networks: “Shark Tank” was CNBC’s highest-rated program, placing 22nd in total viewers and 10th in the demo. “Shark Tank” averaged 474,000 total viewers and 251,000 A25-54 viewers.  The top-rated show on Fox Business was “Varney & Company,” which delivered 121,000 total viewers and 27,000 A25-54 viewers for the month.
