Here’s one television anchor who is earning his weekend: ABC News’ Josh Elliott, who is hosting three shows and appearing on a fourth today. Elliott was at his usual perch on “GMA” this morning, then guest-hosted “The View.” And his day is not nearly over — he will appear tonight on “World News,” followed by filling in for Jorge Ramos on Fusion’s “America” this evening.

“I’m wheels-up at 1:15am–a time where, Sarina [Elliott's daughter] willing, my weekend hibernation would begin. Instead, it’s just the beginning of a day’s journalism (and Hot Topics), without end,” Elliott tells TVNewser. “What could go wrong…?”

Mitt Romney Cancels On ‘The View’

Hell hath no fury like “The View” co-hosts scorned?

At the top of the ABC talk show this morning, Barbara Walters announced that GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney will not be appearing for an interview on Thursday. Romney had scheduled an appearance on the program last month. Earlier in September Romney said that going on “The View” was “high-risk” because “of the five women on it, only one is conservative, and four are sharp-tongued and not conservative.”

As The Huffington Post notes, Walters told the audience today:

Gov. Romney was supposed to be on with us this Thursday with Ann Romney. We were looking forward to it. Over the weekend, his people said that he had scheduling problems and would not be coming on with us. Nor at this point did he feel that he could reschedule. We are happy to have Mrs. Romney on with us. We are sorry that we won’t have Governor Romney and that’s the situation…He can change his mind and we hope he does. It would be our pleasure to have him on the program.

Meredith Vieira To ‘View’ Co-Host Joy Behar: I can see why Romney might avoid you guys

Former “View” moderator Meredith Vieira joined her former colleague Joy Behar on her Current TV program last night, and Mitt Romney‘s thoughts on going on “The View” came up.

“Wouldn’t you be [afraid] if you were on? it is somewhat liberal, the show,” Vieira said. “You try to be fair mainded, but you are tough. I can see why he might avoid you guys.”

Mitt Romney: Going On ‘The View’ Is ‘High Risk’

The full length hidden camera videos from the Mitt Romney fundraiser were released by Mother Jones this afternoon. In addition to the comments that have been leading the news cycle today, Romney also talked about the media.

Some of the most popular places for politicians to go and “humanize” themselves are “Saturday Night Live” and ABC talk show “The View.” Romney said he nixed an appearance on “SNL”:

“I did not do that in part because you want to show that you are fun and a good person, but you also want to be presidential,” he told the assembled donors. “Saturday Night Live has the potential of looking slapstick, and not presidential. But ‘The View’ is fine. Although ‘The View’ is high risk because of the five women on it, only one is conservative, and four are sharp-tongued and not conservative,” he added.

Will it be ‘Live with Kelly & Chris’?

The New York Post reports on the short list to replace Regis Philbin on LIVE later this year.

Among the names said to be in the running are the anchor of “Extra,” Mario Lopez, [Kelly] Ripa’s husband actor Mark Consuelos, “20/20″ anchor Chris Cuomo and former “Access Hollywood” reporter Tony Potts.

Chris Cuomo? That came from almost nowhere. Other than working in the same building, the former GMA newsreader and current co-anchor of “20/20″ has no connection to the show.

“Chris has never been on the show and has not ‘thrown his hat in the ring,’” and ABC News spokesperson tells TVNewser, adding, “I am sure he is being mentioned because he is such a well-known, well-liked and versatile anchor.”

Anyway, in the just-finished February Sweep, the “Today” show’s third hour, which goes head to head with LIVE in many markets, topped Regis and Kelly by 188,000 Total Viewers. And, for the first time since the 2006-07 season, the third hour of “Today” topped “The View,” by 20,000 Total Viewers.

“As soon as I said the B-word, I knew that I had to get up and leave, because I was going to cuss him out, I was done,” Goldberg said.

Today is also the day that CBS launches its own daily talk show featuring a panel of women: “The Talk.”

Willis Talks Issues on The View

willistv_7-21.JPGCNN anchor Gerri Willis talked personal finance this morning with the ladies of The View, in the final segment of their Day of Hot Topics.

Instead, co-anchor TJ Holmes began the show and a pre-taped interview Willis conducted in the morning aired in the first half hour. Willis first appeared live on the air at 12:35pmET.

When she did appear, CNN Newsroom anchor Don Lemon greeted her. “I just watched you on The View, and now you’re there!” he said. “How many are you?”
