TVNewsers Atop ‘Talkers’ ‘Heavy Hundred’

Talkers magazine, the magazine of the talk radio business, has released its annual “Heavy Hundred” list. As has become commonplace, the list is chock full of TV news personalities, particularly towards the top.

Rush Limbaugh may be number one, but Fox News’ Sean Hannity was number two, and former FNCer Glenn Beck was number four. MSNBC’s Ed Schultz came in at number six, while Current TV’s Stephanie Miller held the number 12 slot and Alan Colmes was at 16.

Other TV news personalities on the list include Andrea Tantaros (24), Don Imus (35), Mike Huckabee (46), Herman Cain (59), Geraldo Rivera (62), Tom Sullivan (65) and Al Sharpton (90).

Melissa Francis jokes that she wants to be writer when she grows up. The Fox Business Network anchor is already on her second career. And with the publication of her memoir, “Diary of a Stage Mother’s Daughter,” she’s on her way to fulfilling that adulthood dream. Francis was feted last night at Astra, an event space overlooking Manhattan’s East River. The memoir is a brutally honest, sometimes painful, yet touching story of life as a child actor. After dozens of commercials, her first big break came on “Little House on the Prairie.”

In a Media Beat interview this summer Francis told us the book, includes “the typical family dramas, set against the backdrop of a very unusual childhood.”

But last night, no drama, just celebrating. Among the guests, FNC/FBN c0-founder and chairman Roger Ailes, FBN EVP Kevin Magee, anchors Neil Cavuto, Liz Claman, Lori Rothman, Cheryl Casone, Elizabeth MacDonald, Tracy Byrnes, Sandra Smith, Nicole Petallides, Tom Sullivan and Dennis Kneale.

From FNC, we spotted Bill Hemmer and chatted with Megyn Kelly about election night, and the moment that took her from the studio through the bowels of Fox News to the decision desk as they explained calling Ohio for Pres. Obama, giving him the election and giving Karl Rove agita. Following many long months of election coverage and, more recently, of Hurricane Sandy, which left her without power for a week, Kelly was looking forward to taking today off.

Tom Sullivan Gets Fox Business Show

Fox Business Network is getting another new addition to its programming lineup. StreetInsider.com reports that Fox Business anchor Tom Sullivan will get a new weekend program, “The Tom Sullivan Show,” premiering Saturday at 7 p.m. FBN has been undergoing a radical shift in programming over the last few months, adding daily shows from Gerri Willis and Eric Bolling, and weekend programs from talent such as Andrew Napolitano. FBN Live Saturday For Summit

Fox Business Network will be live for eight hours Saturday, beginning at 8amET, as it covers the World Economic Summit in Washington, D.C.

Neil Cavuto reports live from the White House while Cheryl Casone, Stuart Varney, Tom Sullivan and Dagen McDowell anchor and interview experts in studio.

FBN will also host its own version of the “Summit,” inviting viewers to call in and talk to experts about the financial crisis and personal financial advice.

> Update: Bloomberg will be live, as usual, covering the Summit in D.C.

While Liz Claman talks to business news fans in the major markets, other FBNers appear in some of the not-as-major markets:

• Dagen McDowell in the Lynchburg News Advance (VA): “I’ve always worked for people who gave me a chance. I haven’t always had the perfect resume. [But] if you step up and work hard and do a good job, I’ve always been able to move up that way.”
