Michael Strahan Joins ‘Good Morning America’

Michael Strahan is joining “Good Morning America” as a contributor. Just like in his NFL days, Strahan emerged from a GMA tunnel, giving high fives from fans, ending at the anchor desk, where Robin Roberts announced Strahan would join the show “a couple days a week.” He’ll mostly appear in the 7am hour, so he can get back uptown to his other day job, co-hosting “Live” which airs at 9am. Just so he wouldn’t miss a hit, George Stephanopoulos gave Strahan an alarm clock. “It’s a pleasure to get up early, because you guys have been so good to us, and Kelly and I appreciate it. It’s family,” Strahan said.

Strahan’s role wasn’t defined beyond that he’ll be weighing in on certain stories. “I watch every mooring and I sit there going, ‘that’s a good point.’ Now instead of talking to the TV, I can talk with you.” The addition of Strahan comes a few days after the show added ESPN host Tony Reali to the show’s “Social Square.” WATCH:

Let's All Just Calm Down About Donovan McNabb's New Contract

Word slipped out yesterday that Donovan McNabb signed a new contract with the Washington Redskins and the Internet burst into flames condemning the deal.

$78 million for a quarterback who was benched two weeks ago? What?!?!? Anger. Confusion. Derision.

Commentators commented. Pundits pundicized. The masses moaned, especially as the McNabb and the Redskins proceeded to go out and get thrashed by Michael Vick‘s Philadelphia Eagles.

The negativity was fine, except no one knew exactly what was in the contract. Read more

SBJ: Super Bowl Ad Spots Nearly Sold Out

If football ad sales are any indication, the ad recovery the business is seeing this year is the real deal. As we reported last week, ad sales look to be strong for the upcoming 2010-2011 season, but we had no idea they would be this strong.

Sports Business Journal‘s John Ourand reports that Fox has sold out nearly all of its Super Bowl spots at around $3 million a pop.

So far, CBS, NBC, ESPN and NFL Network all say they are at least 90% sold for the season, which is still a few weeks away from starting.

So what is behind the strong comeback? All of the networks seem to agree on that one:
