Liz Claman’s “Enormous Rolodex” and O’Reilly Fan Dad

claman_10-20.jpgFBN’s Liz Claman is profiled by Broadcasting & Cable’s Marisa Guthrie, and talks with FBN EVP Kevin Magee about one of FBN’s standout stars.

“She jumped in with both feet and brought an enormous Rolodex,” he said. “I’ve got a picture in my office of her interviewing Warren Buffett and Bill Gates at the same time. That’s $120 billion worth of people in those chairs. And I don’t think we could have gotten them without her.” (Magee is referring to this May interview.)

Claman describes her “liberal Democrat” dad, who “occasionally found himself agreeing with Bill O’Reilly.” He passed away before he could see her start at FBN. “He would have loved this. He would have said to do it,” she said.

Buffett Talks GE Investment on CNBC

buffett_10-1.jpgGE announced today it would sell $3 billion in stock to Warren Buffett of Berkshire Hathaway, in a deal similar to Buffett’s recent investment in Goldman Sachs.

Shortly after the announcement, Buffett showed up on the business network of the company he had just invested in. CNBC’s Becky Quick interviewed Buffett by phone just after 2pmET.

“I’m up here in an airplane, and I hope it’s being powered by GE engines,” joked Buffett as he began the interview.

Buffett also talked about the potential bailout. “I think we’ll get action,” he said of Congress’ plans. “If we don’t, I’ll have done some dumb things.”

In a lucky booking for PBS, Charlie Rose is slated for an exclusive interview tonight with Buffett at 9pmET.

CNBC’s Becky Quick to Moderate National Town Hall

Becky Quick, co-anchor of CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” will interview five of the nation’s top financial and economic policy experts in a discussion about the national debt. Warren Buffett, Blackstone Group’s Pete Peterson and Bill Novelli, CEO of AARP, will take part in the Q&A following a screening of the new documentary “I.O.U.S.A.“.

Quick will moderate the discussion August 21 from Omaha, while theaters across America also screen the film then take part in the town hall Q&A.

“I’m looking forward to moderating a first-class panel discussion on the critical topic of debt and its potential long-term implications,” said Quick. “This event, a true 21st-century town hall, couldn’t come at a more appropriate time.”

Liz Claman Leaves CNBC

Lizclaman7.19.jpgFirst on TVNewser: Liz Claman has left CNBC, a high-level insider tells TVNewser. Claman anchored CNBC’s #1 rated business day program, Morning Call, which airs from 10-Noon ET.

Sources expect Claman to land at Fox Business Network, set to launch this fall. Claman has been a star anchor and reporter at the net (remember the Warren Buffett interviews?) since 1998.

In an interview with Marketwatch.com’s Jon Friedman in February Claman said of the threat from FBN “all competition is good, it makes us all better, and fight harder…”

> Update: CNBC confirmed the news in a memo this afternoon…

> An Emailer writes: “Liz Claman leaving = massive loss for CNBC. CEO’s loved this gal… we had lots of fun in the newsroom daily perusing the no less than 4 Yahoo! chat groups about her.”

> A CNBC insider adds: “CNBC has great strength with Maria Bartiromo, Erin Burnett, and Becky Quick … CEO’s love them too.”
