The NHL and NBC Sports announced today a unique promotional campaign that integrates Facebook into the Washington Capitals-Pittsburgh Penguins broadcast.

As part of the “Watch And Win” promotion, viewers will have a chance at winning prizes such as a Honda CR-Z sport hybrid coupe, and trips for four to both Universal Orlando Studios and the 2011 NHL All-Star Game. The campaign was developed in partnership with RocketXL, a leading North American social media marketing agency.

Media day was held today on the campus of the University of Miami, where 250 media members flocked to get an early look at LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

ESPN was part of the 250 media members on hand, and according to SportsByBrooks.com, they are looking to beef up their Heat coverage.

Brian Windhorst of the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Mike Wallace of The Miami Herald, are the two reporters rumored to be on ESPN.com’s radar as Miami Heat beat reporters.

Yes, you read correctly.

And no, not for ESPNMiami.com, which isn’t in the works at the moment.

Windhorst has covered James and the Cavaliers since 2003 and has been an ESPN contributor.

Brooks is reporting that Wallace has resigned from his position at The Miami Herald as beat writer for the Heat, though he has been tweeting from media day and had a story in Sunday’s newspaper.

The potential move makes sense for Windhorst, who could escape from what might be one of the worst teams in the league this year in Cleveland and rekindle his solid relationship with James.

But if you’re Wallace, wouldn’t you want to scoop the competition instead of getting lost in the ESPN.com shuffle?
