Tammy Haddad Out As Hardball EP

Breaking: An MSNBC insider confirms to TVNewser that MSNBC’s Tammy Haddad will no longer be EP of Hardball with Chris Matthews, but will continue as Vice President of Washington, DC for MSNBC. Another insider tells TVNewser the decision will give Haddad more time to devote to MSNBC’s super tuesday series as well as three debates in the coming months.

The source tells us NBC SVP Phil Griffin is in Washington this afternoon meeting with the Hardball staff. (Chris Matthews did not host the last two nights, Mike Barnicle was filling in.) The Hardball team already in place in Washington and at MSNBC headquarters will run the show for now.

>More: a tipster writes “Phil Griffin said at the meeting that Tammy made this call herself. Chris Matthews is now the ‘managing editor’.”

HuffPost‘s Rachel Sklar was first to report this story, and has the Haddad/Matthews backstory.
