The “Wink & Nod”

BCBeat’s latest entry is priceless:

“CNN’s Miles O’Brien couldn’t say it.

It would have been off-color and inappropriate given the seriousness of the subject matter.

So, he fell back on the old journalistic equivalent of the ‘wink and nod,’ letting all the viewers know that he knew what headline leapt to many minds when met with the news.”

(The news, of course, was that erectile disfunction medicines could be causing blindness.) So here’s how O’Brien winked and nodded:

“Remember what grandma used to say?” he asked, clearly aching to add the punchline, “well, there may be some truth to that.”

BCBeat gets all the credit for noticing…
