Today’s Tom Touchet Is Fired

NBC’s Today Show executive producer Tom Touchet has been “ousted.”

> “Touchet was not immediately available for comment, said an assistant who answered his phone on Tuesday,” the AP reports.

> An insider tells TVNewser NBC was essentially waiting for the Pope news to clear before dropping the ax.

> An e-mailer asks: “So Zucker, who has done NOTHING since he left The Today Show, fires Touchet. Maybe Tom deserved it, but how long can Jeff hang on?”

> A Touchet sympathizer tells Drudge that “Tom has been making changes to move the show into the future, while Host Katie Couric and NBC President Jeff Zucker are trying to keep it mired in the past.”
