Wallace Reflects on Conventions Past

wallace_8-26.jpgFNC anchor Chris Wallace, who The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart apparently kind of likes, reflects on past conventions in Boston Magazine. “The big difference then, was that things actually happened at conventions,” he said.

Wallace’s first convention was 1964, when he was just 16. “I was the go-for for Walter Cronkite at the Republican convention in San Francisco,” he said.

And although things “happened” at conventions in the past, he still thinks coverage is important. “Even for the broadcast networks, the convention beats doing a summer game show rerun,” Wallace said. “It’s four nights every four years covering how a party wants to present itself and how a candidate wants to present himself as the possible president is worth doing.”
